AAR review of 2-day course by Dark Angel Medical :
For the average Outdoorsman’s, Police Officer and Service Member it’s important to be skilled within your job or hobby but its also key to have knowledge about how to treat trauma injuries so your brother, sister, coworker and or family member can get to the next level of care.
With the current state of the economy you don’t know what the response time will be for the paramedics to provide key life saving measures. I personally believe that law enforcement and military does a good job with training to eliminate the threat but what happens when the good guys go down. What happens if you’re Saturday range trip turns out to be tragic and you’re shot in the thigh. Do you have a plan because depending on wound it will determine the amount of time you will have to create a solution? There are better medical tools and techniques that will increase your ability to survive than a belt or t-shirt to wrap around the wound.
This is where Dark Angel Medical comes into play because you don’t want to be in a medical emergency without a plan. Its Vita Vel Nex or Life or Death! I attended 2-day Dark Angel Medical Class in Yakima, WA. I arrived at the course and I thought that I would be meeting the owner of Dark Angel Medical, Kerry Davis. I first walked in the door and I thought that Kerry looked young for his age. I took a second look and I saw it was a different instructor. Jackson McWade taught the course and I was nothing but impressed with his knowledge and skill. Jackson was asked a multitude of questions and he was able to interpret what the person was asking and provided clear and understandable answer. Jackson is clearly passionate about his position and he answered every question that was asked during the course. Jackson was able to relate the course material to his own personal experiences and I enjoyed his stories. I also thought that the videos that were played during the class drove home the point of why the training was necessary. I would not hesitant to take another medical class taught by Jackson.
I felt that the medical class did an excellent job covering different type of injuries and how to treat them. The class covered hypothermia, animal bites, snakebites, cover and concealment, HAZMAT and many other topics that you would expect to see in this class. If you want more details check out the Dark Angel Medical website because it covers the course material in detail. Plus, I am not going to steal “Action” Jackson’s thunder and go into too much detail about the course content. I felt that I received the full meal deal and I would take the course again if I had the opportunity too. This class is not geared specifically towards the military or law enforcement officer but I think anybody could find value in the content that was taught.
I personally think one of the best things about this course is you walk away with a Dark Angel Medical kit with the knowledge and understanding how to use it. For the cost of the course plus the medical kit it’s an excellent value. This course is a must attend because you never know when your going to face a medical emergency and your going to sink to your level of training.
