I'm really starting to wonder if LT and anything longer than 16" bbls are going to become a thing of the past... Here's my thinking. Conventional knowledge seems to be moving towards the idea of shorter bbls being more accurate. Precise would probably be a better word as precision = repeatability. Since there is minimal drop off in velocity from 16-18", there doesn't seem to be much use in the effort to retool. Possibly why LT keeps trying to push those with longer bbl orders to the 16" variety. It makes business sense, especially in light of the thought that 18" bbls may be giving them issues. I'm not really begrudging the idea of this happening, but if I get an 18" bbl, I'll definitely be ordering the 14.5" when available. If I end up with a 16" bbl, then I wouldn't be able to justify the difference in velocity vs the cost of the barrel for 1.5" overall length. |

It looks like the 18" barrels on the TOBR are starting to move again,
Got the call stating it will move to the Gun Room soon. 854xx |

I shot this 10 shot group with my 18" field grade barrel this afternoon. I was pretty impressed. I measured it at 0.817 inches.

Very nice.
Do you know if your barrel 11.25/1 or 10/1 twist? Quoted:

Based on what I have read here.....I havent the slightest clue.
It was a riflegear predatobr. I thought all the field grades were 1:11.25 but I havent measured it. Whatever it is, its as good as most other company's match barrels....

[#12]
I'd say better. I think I have an early FG 16". I'm not getting anything like you are, but then again I'm guessing I'm not as good on the trigger as you, I didn't get a test target, so can't compare to that, plus i doesn't account for break in. Still, make me wonder if I should opt for the 18" barrel if given the choice.

Just received an email from Juli wanting me to update any info as they are ready to build. 18" tobr 7.62 order # 803XX
may I just say |
|
[#20]
Well, I have not gotten a call or email yet, but my OBR 7.62 18" order just went to the order status of " lowers ban shipped" . My order number was798xx. My lower is sitting in my safe as I was one of the very last to get their lowers over a year ago. I can only hope that means it will be heading home soon for my build. Anyone else have their order status changed?

Yippee I received an email also today. 7.62 TObr 18" order 692xx ready to be built.

What a bummer, just got word that I was to slow in replying to the email sent and that my TObr won't happen till the next batch of 18" ers. Congrats to those that were faster then I to get theirs.

[#23]
Don't feel too bad. I called exactly 37 minutes after the time they sent my email. I also was too slow and will be in the next batch. I'm just happy I have a return label and my lower is heading back for my build!

I know that they did a cattle call to get all the lower ban lowers back today that way they don't have to wait for the return of the lowers when the parts are available for the builds. |

The only thing better than the brown truck showing up to your door is a call from Juli verifying muzzle break requirements !!! Looks like this weekend may be spent sending 7.62 bullets out an 18" barrel.
OK, I was wrong, a tracking number is better !!! |
|
[#29]
My order number is 80,5XX ordered I believe 12/17/2014. Order is for a 18" tAR HEAVY.
I received the Cattle Call email Thursday after COB. I called Juli Friday morning and made sure all was well and confirmed about the updated Surefire brake since the old SF one had been discontinued since my initial order. She also asked color preference ( if there was one ) and if I minded a RAT stock. She was very apologetic about the wait, which was awesome, but I really have never been mad or upset about it. Told her I was just really happy to see movement in "my direction". I don't post a lot here, but I read a good many of the threads here almost everyday. I figured I'd let some people know about my recent experience to better gage where you may be in the process. My lower is due to arrive back at the place where it was born by Tues June 10 COB. ( I was one of the last to receive a lower on the "unofficial tracking thread") If anyone has any questions about my recent dealings let me know. PS - she did mention that rifles would be built in order that the lowers were received back, and to further clarify, I would suspect that would be further broken down into barrel lengths and/or type rifle (tOBR, tAR, OBR. MAY YOU BE ACCURATE, AS FAST AS POSSIBLE monk |

I second that. I still see a good many posts on 16" lites and heavies being delivered. I'm hoping 18" ers will be born in short order. The excitement of sending my lower back has subsided some now, but I'm still optimistic.

18" 7.62 tOBR please, hopefully before the Fall Hunting Season!
I have been slowly stocking up on 175gr SMKs for handloads for it, 12 lbs of RE-15, some H4895, IMR and other powders to try. I used up all my Varget on my 77gr 5.56 loads. Thinking about Nosler 150gr Accubonds for Hunting rounds or maybe some Barnes 150gr TTSX, what do you guys think for a Hunting round for Arizona Mule Deer? Cochise |

Cochise I only have 4 or 5 -1lb cans of the 4895, I really want to try some 7.62 loads with it. I loaded up 1k of the 77gr SMKs for my Match loads and what I had left loaded up a bunch of 55gr fmj for plinking rds which In hindsight I shouldn't have done. I got a little frustrated using the Varget in my progressive so I bought a couple of 8 lb jugs of H335 for the 5.56 plinking loads and have been using that. I also am processing some 30-06 brass for my M1 Garand and was going to work up a 168 gr SMK load using the 4895 and RE-15. |

Roentgun, we are steady holding out for info it seems. I think long as we keep up with this thread eventually we will get a heads up from "The Man" when our turn is near. I turned down a 16 incher cause of pure grit and resolve. There are a few things I want to order for it, but I refuse to put the cart before the horse.

View Quote No I get it, and I'm trying not to be a complainer. It was just disappointing to see 7.62's start rolling out only to stop after 2 weeks when 5.56's have been pretty steadily flowing since Feb. I understand that more ppl can afford the 5.56's and more of those were ordered. It would still be nice to see a bit more parity in what is going out. Especially now that order #'s on 5.56's are catching up with those of the 7.62's. |
