Interesting status report from Valley Guns in West Virginia :

Status of gun industry

Attention F.B. fans: to follow will be several IMPORTANT Info updates about the status of the gun industry currently, followed by an INVENTORY UPDATE: We traveled to Texas for Industry meetings concerning the shortages, here's what we were told.

Smith & Wesson-is running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages.

RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days.

FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1. Remington-Maxed out!

Armalite: Maxed out.

DPMS: Can't get enough parts to produce any more product.

COLT: Production runs increasing weekly...bottle necked by Bolt carrier's.

LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity...can't get enough gun quality steel to make barrels.

Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.

AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line.

MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon.

RELOADERS... ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra's for reloading purposes... it could be 6-9 months before things get caught up. Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted...

Related commentary from Bob Owens :
They didn’t know when they’d be getting anything back in stock, from magazines to rifles to pistols. Manufacturers were running full-bore, but couldn’t come close to keeping up with market demand. It wasn’t just the AR-15s, the AK-pattern rifles, the M1As, and the FALs that were sold out. It really hit me when I realized that the World War-era M1 Garands, M1 carbines, and Enfield .303s were gone, along with every last shell. Ubiquitous Mosin-Nagants—of which every gun store always seems to have 10-20—were gone. So was their ammo. Only a dust free space marked their passing. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years was gone. This isn’t a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.

Barack Obama, Dianne Feinstein and the rest of the Statists have done more to promote gun ownership than the NRA ever did. Well done, Democrats!

Ya know, if the "industry" really wanted to make a statement about the state of affairs we are all currently in, maybe they should stop servicing and taking government contracts. They can start with NYPD, Chicago PD, SanFran PD, etc, etc. I do not mean to offend any LEOs out there, I just think that simple act of defiance would really resonate with the powers that be not to mess with the citizenry.

I remember reading that DHS bought several million rounds of something or the other ... that's not a bugger on the nose of 1 billion rounds per week.

I keep seeing that 1 million mag figure about magpul. I'd really like to see a magpul source on it since they're so secretive. It makes me doubt other parts of the list.

Speaking of numbers - 300 million guns in America ... 1 million mags is just that 1/3 of 1 %.

Bet it's shy a few mags

Makes me wonder if the anti-gun dems are somehow getting paid...they (and gun/accessory manufacturers) must know that anything they say causes beaucoup money to be spent.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are making money off this as well.

They're getting paid - but they're also printing the money to pay themselves. So let's call it a whitewash.

Actually, they bought 450 million rounds of .40 S&W, and 750 million rounds of 5.56MM......

Okay, so a week's worth of annual production.

I was told that America had underground salt mines filled to the brim with warfighting ammo on Sept. 11, 2001 - since then, they've all been emptied and it's all shot up.

Dovetails with what I heard from multiple sources at SHOT. Right now, the biggest bottleneck in gun manufacturing is the lack of various types of steel.

Really, everyone should have seen this coming. I bought all my powder and primers and brass in late 2011 when it was still available. PMags were very plentiful up to the week after the election last November (one of my distributors had over 200,000 in stock on Nov 8 2012).

Provided we have no more serious problems such as more gun ban laws, another mentally ill type mass shooting, or a terrorist attack on US soil, it looks to be 2nd quarter of 2014 before we see any regular inventories again.

The writing was clearly on the wall that this would happen if Oba Mao was reelected.
You see, the danger to America is not a single politician with ill intent. The most dangerous thing any nation faces is a citizenry capable of trusting a liar to lead them. Andy Andrews

This Obama 2nd Amendment crap is way out of control. I'm happy that the gun manufacturers are busy beyond what anyone ever could have imagined but sad that my gun collection has come to a halt. I did get my LT OBR a year ago and that was the best $2K I've ever spent (actually more like $4500 with all the accessories). I did get a little ahead of the curve by purchasing over 1000 77g SMKs, brass, primers and powder.

I do know one thing though...I am prepared and the only way the democratic morons will ever get my guns is by prying it out of cold, dead hand. Rest assured, before they pry it out, they'll need more body bags than I have ammo as I know I'll be standing beside millions of other Texans and other TRUE Americans who feel the same way!

Carry on my friends! Seriously, carry on (with that 1911, Glock, Sig, or whatever you carry).

Mark - DHS just bought 200,000 ADDITIONAL rounds bringing their total on order to 1.6 Billion rounds. They are also in the market for 7,000 additional evil, black, child scaring, liberal hating, bad dream inducing, military grade, machine gun assualt riles whose collapsible stocks induce selective fire.

I believe it is this fact alone that derailed the more insidious of the executive orders...

Mark, thanks for the update from an insider perspective. That is some unreal numbers there...

So, at this rate, once I get the rest of my OBR, and then save up for the 3grand optic there might be a chance I can buy some ammo for it...cool. This sucks...I am sitting on a couple thousand rounds of 9, 45, and 556 which isn't much when I am going through a thousand a month between IDPA and practice...guess it's time to take it down to one match and one practice for a while.

So if FNH is increasing production to 100% by March, is that going to translate to (5) additional 20 round magazines being produced per month or will we see (10) 20 round magazines per month? Either way, it should really help things on the ground in realville!
