To David Letterman: Exactly what business is it of yours what type of firearm i posess, provided i use it legally, and safely? This is not a "gun" issue, but an issue of the government having FAR too much authority on the way the American people live their lives.
Are cheeseburgers unhealthy? Of course they are. Does the government have any right to prohibit you from eating 14 a day?
Alcohol is in an even more similar situation... you can kill yourself, and hurt innocent bystanders with the unscrupulous consumption of alcohol, combined with an act, such as driving a car. Have we prohibited alcohol? Yeah... and that didnt last long.
i have a Larue Tactical OBR in my safe. i am a safe, sane, and educated individual. i shoot long range competition, as well as hunt with it. The list of reasons can end right there- and even that is unnescesary. As i stated, "because i fucking want to" is more than enough "reason" for me to excersise my right to bear arms.
But, i will give you one more: I am a professional warrior. I earn a salary, paid by the taxpayors, to put myself in harm's way in the service of the community. i paid out of my own pocket for my OBR (my patrol rifle), my personally owned handgun (which is of a 101 year old design), and everything else to include handcuffs, underwear, and boots.
the lives of the citizens are worth risking my own. my own life is worth protecting. the "government" does not give me the tools to do it- i will buy them myself.
when you restrict me from doing so, in a very direct way, you impact your own safety.
mind your own business, tell the government to do the same, and please- for the love of god... educate yourself before you make nonsense statements with HUGE technical inaccuracies.
