The link works. Did you do the mags? Will be great if you can get that pattern on the clips. |

Yeah I did the mags. It requires a shitload of electrical tape and clothing dye from walmart. If I would do the index clips I would have to put them on a rail, tape them off together and dye them like that so I keep the same size of pattern. I will just have to mark each clip for what position it goes in.
Maybe your broswer doesnt like the 4+mb images. My photobucket account is down, that postimage site allows you to upload full size images so they are huge. If the index clips work I will buy a new OD MIAD to make into camo, and then I will think long and hard about finally spending money on a stock. I will either get a STR, RAT stock, or CTR depending on the cheapest I can find and when the LT stock comes out. I personally dont like the way the RAT stock looks, but this is my SHTF rifles and having a cleaning rod in the stock is awesome, not sure if I can get a rod that would fit into the STR. |

I was thinking you'd have to mount the clips to a rail or something to die them and get a consistent pattern. It will be a lot of work but as good as the mags came out I think you'll do fine. Yep, the pics are huge. |

Yes, the pics are huge.
I think if you went through the trouble to do the clips it would look really good. |

Curiosity...
Would you be working on one rail at a time, or perhaps a cheap quad rail with the same number of slots, so you could do all four sides at once? AFA what to do when they dry and you're ready to install them, I would think it would be easiest to, one at a time, take them off the painting rail, and install straight onto the "finished" rail... EDIT: Gonna FUG things up as well???
I also had issues viewing the pictures at first, but if / when you go through with it, I'd like to see the finished product... |

This process has nothing to do with paint. Using OD pmags I covered shapes using electrical tape. I dunked it in black rit dye, removed some of the electrical tape shapes, dunked it in brown dye. Then I removed the rest of the tape and voila camo pmags. The dye itself only goes about 1/8-1/16" deep but its far more durable then paint.
I have a couple small plastic rail sections that I got cheap that are meant for an airsoft gun. If the FUG came in OD, I would think about it, because if you mess up you can always just dye it black then you have a black item. But with the dye you can ONLY go from light to dark so I need to start out with OD, foliage, or FDE As for marking I will just right on the bottom part with silver sharpie. |

EDIT: Aimpoint is not pictured, I guess I will have to get an OD cover for that too and dye it. ETA: This is the type/position I want the LaRue mount to put the light ![]() |

Could you get a FUG in tan and dye it OD, then black and brown to match?
I think a matching FUG would look great to go along with the clips. |

Understandable that you wouldn't want to dunk a FUG right off the bat.
Would it be fair to assume that the same polymer LT uses in the Index Clips would be the same as they use on the shell of the FUG? Perhaps someone could spot you a couple tan ICs for experimental purposes... |

I think a multicam index clip set would look pretty cool. Good luck!
This also reminds me of this picture I have seen in the past from another user. ![]() |

Well the MIAD grip doesnt seem to be the same color OD as the older PMAGS and the plastic is different so the pictures look a little different. The texture on the MIAD didn't play nice with my tape so I didn't really get any patern on that part. Looks "OK" IMHO.
I'm going to order OD index clips on monday, since I have to mail in the gift certificate to order. Crappy pictures, I dont have a setup to take good pictures indoors.

Again all I'm getting is red X's.
Also looking at that light mount you posted I think the LT606 does what you want. |

you need to paste the URL in the IMG tags... for some reason you're pasting them as links |
