This is the unofficial version until someone says it's great, bold the title and make it all official. Going to layout some ground rules first and then start adding the content.

READ THESE RULES BEFORE READING ON OR POSTING!!

1. No Cherry Picking - This is used as a reference. If you are going to reload for your fine LT rifle or upper, you need to work your loads up. You paid good money for that rifle, why risk damaging it or yourself? There are lots of variables that effect pressures and velocity and just because a load resulted in x at my location does not mean you will have x result in your location. Same goes for manufacture lots. Work your loads up. If you do not understand this concept, you need to go do some reading in the reloading forum and purchase some manuals.

2 . Big Boy Rules - You are responsible for your own actions. No one here ( me, other posters, LT, Arfcom, etc. . . .) is liable if you screw up while reloading or ignore rule one and blow a rifle up. Reloading should be done in a very controlled and distraction free environment. IF you do not have this or cannot provide it for yourself, reloading is not for you. This thread is not intended, designed or adequate to teach you how to reload for your Larue rifle. It is meant to supplement currently published data.

3. Only Post YOUR data - No posting your Brother in Law or some guy on some other forum's load data. Gets us back to rule 1 right? If you did not work the loads up, if you did not set up and chrono the rounds, THEN DON'T POST IT. Simple, rocket science not brain surgery.

4. Only Chronographed Data - The load may shoot great at 100, but without the velocity, that's all it is and it's a chance for someone to screw up and blow up something. If you post data, it needs to be chronographed and posted in the appropriate format shown below, no exceptions. Velocities are critical to know if the load is safe and figuring out dope.

5. Please minimize chatter - Lets try to keep this thread clean. If you think I need to change something, add something, shove it where the sun don't shine, please im me and lets not have some 5 page mess of train wreck nonsense in a technical thread. Not saying only post data, but let s leave the bs at the door please and just post what is relevant and useful.

6. No 3 shot Samples - 3 shots is not statistically significant. Please do not post data based off only 3 shots. I want to have data based for 10 shots, but if you can only do 5 for whatever reason, I will accept 5. Please just load 10 rounds. The mag holds 20, so lets gather good data. If all you have are 3 rounds for some reason, please do not post the data until you can put together a full 5-10 rounds to test and then post the data.

Hopefully that covers it. Here's the format I thought we should try to use. If anyone has suggestions or modifications, please im me and we'll discuss it.

Bullet -
Bullet BC -
Powder -
Primer -
Brass -
Barrel Length -

OAL -
Powder Charge -
Crimp -

Average FPS -
Min -
Max -
STDEVA -
Sample Size -

Fill in what you can. If you do not have the means to get the STDEVA - Stand Deviation, message me the data and I will provide it for you. Sample size is not the same as group size. Sample size refers to the number of rounds you tested for this data. 3 rounds fired is not statistically significant. 5 is not great either, but if that is what you have, that is better than 3. 10 is the preferred sample size, please try to test 10 rounds before posting, I do not feel that is asking too much.

If there are any other variables you feel you need to mention, ie - the rifle was suppressed, you like 12,000 feet above sea level, you are super cool and have a windless worm tunnel free from atmospheric pressures you tested the rounds in, WHATEVER, please notate this at the beginning of your post so folks see it before they go playing Billy the Bullet Maker. . .

I have intentionally left off a spot for group size. This was done to avoid cherry pickers. If you want to post pictures or report how your reloads grouped, that's fine and I am not going to try to internet police that; however, I STRONGLY SUGGEST folks WORK UP THEIR RELOADS and not just start with a receipt they found on the internet.

Lets be safe, help each other out and have some fun guys. My first post will be coming shortly

** 03-30-12 : Okay, I have filled in the rest of the data I have collected in the past week and gone through and updated each post so that they are all in order grouped within one post. I have put notes for your reference in BOLD BLUE in each post that I updated. TXMG is in a few weeks, so I probably will not have any further updates for a while, but hopefully someone finds this useful and it helps eliminate some of the work up that I have had to do. If anyone has requests of bullets to test or powder combos, I am all ears and will do my best to get some data in here for something besides Varget. And as always, feel free to add your own data to this thread. **

** 3-30-12 : I think this maybe as far as I push the 168s. They are moving at a much better velocity than FGMM and as noted above, I saw some pressure signs on the case that went 2621fps. I may test another +.2 grains just to see if I can't get them right at 2600 fps, but I am going to have to wait till I get more 168s in hand.

The last two groups tested shot VERY well and were the best of the groups I had with the 168 SMK. I think someone a bit more consistent than I could really get some draw dropping groups with these loads. As always, work up. **

I like using Barnes. I load them for my .308's and AR10 and would still like to use them for 5.56. Thoughts?

thanks for the data Mojo! I was hoping you'd get to the range. I am working on my excel sheet tonight and should have the rest of my 168 data posted and a good bit of data for the Sierra 2155 bullets posted.

As far as Barnes are concerned, no experience here with them. All my bullets have been put to steel or paper; however, I once I get everything settled, I was thinking about picking some up.

** 3-30-12 : Little disappointed with the accuracy of these bullets. They are not bad, but they are by far not the best either. I have not had a chance to try them at a longer distance to see if the BC makes up for 100 yard accuracy, but given that they have a lower BC than the 175 SMK and seem to be less accurate through my gun, I am not sure that I will continue testing these. I am going to see if I can't get my hands on some different 155s to see if they fair better. Possibly Sierra's 2156 (Palma Match) and Lapua or Berger's bullets. **

I have filled out and added data for both Sierra and Hornady's 168s. Not sure if I will push the velocity on them more or not. I have posted up the data I have gotten using the Sierra 155 - 2155 bullets and still need to sort and post data for 175 grain Sierra MK. Hope this helps and people are able to use this info.

Suggestions welcome in email or IM. Thank you.

Id like to see some loads of 168 and 175 SMK's going at least 2600 fps. Is that a possibility?

Working my way up there. That's why I am putting this thread together. Not a lot of data out there for "shorter" barrels and I didn't want to guess on a 3k rifle on what a good starting point was.

Old school tag.

I have a 16'' OBR 7.62 that I have old handloads I haven't crony'd through this rifle yet.

I was using 168SMKs w/43gr of 2520 but a friend of mine just gave me 16 #'s of Varget so I'll be switching over soon.

And just a heads up. FGMM 168's chrono'd at 2519.6fps in my 18" OBR. No signs of excessive pressure yet, so I am probably going to purchase more 168s and put more powder in. Just going to take me some time to restock. Working on my data for 175 Sierras and should have it posted in the next few weeks.

Working up loads and data for 175 Sierra MKs and waiting to get more bullets in to finish out the 168s' data.

I have not had a chance to load and finish the 155s. Hope folks are finding this helpful or a good starting place.

After a good bit of shooting some of the loads I have posted, I am going to try to go through and edit the posts with some notes that I think folks might find helpful.

FGMM 168 is great, but the brass is considered "soft" and usually won't last long as far reloading them.

Shooting Chony F-1 like this guy:

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/531741/shooting-chrony-f1-chronograph

Most of the days I have had to use the sun shades. Going to throw down some $ and get the printer here soon. Hope to have more data up soon, but weather and work have not been real cooperative in getting me to the range. My reloading stuff is spread to the 4 winds at the moment to due to the garage reloading workshop remodel....

ETA: I forgot to add, I have a blank excel workbook I have set up that I will email to anyone interested. It is set up to record all your load data and then spit out the min, max, spread, standard deviation, etc.

Here's some of the data I have started getting for 175 Sierra MK bullets. This bullet kicked some serious butt in my OBR, I was really pleased with the performance. I still need to pick up more 168s and 155s and get them loaded a little hotter. but time. money and reloading is a balancing act at the moment now that I have a kiddo on the way. I will load move 175s and try to get them tested by the end of the month, but at least is gives everyone a bit of a jumping off point.

If anyone has suggestions for other bullets to try, let me know and I will try to get a hold of some.

The 175 Sierra's are the most accurate in my rifle at the moment with me shooting it. The 43.8 grain was really impressive, so I hope as I push the velocity on them I will see even more performance.

** 3-30-12 : This is the best group to date in my rifle. In addition to have a low standard deviation, it also only had a max deviation of 25 fps. Not out of this world, but considering all things, I think that's pretty damn good and I think this round is going to kick some ass at longer ranges where the 168s start to crap out. No signs of pressure and the loads aren't compressed yet, so I am going to keep going and see if I can't get this up to 2600 fps. This one is also moving faster than any of the FGMM I have tested through my rifle. **
