Hay Mark, do you have any plans for a new barrel wrench that could be based on the GI style barrel wrench but instead of 3 engagement prongs it would have 7 to 8 engagement prongs? I would think that a new design like this would be useful for taking off really tight barrel nuts or going that extra 1/16th of an inch when installing a barrel nut so you don't bend the teeth.
On the spacing/orientation of the prongs: Instead of just modifying a GI wrench and having one prong right after the other, I would rather have the prongs spaced out so that a prong is in every other notch on the barrel nut, so every other tooth on the barrel nut would be supported by a prong... You see? This way you would have the engagement around more of the diameter of the barrel nut then the original GI wrench. EDIT: A 10 prong PRI style FF barrel nut wrench with enough meat to press a Delta ring down and with the spacing of the prongs as described above would also be really sweet. I know I'd be in for one as I haven't had much luck with what's currently out there. So, whadoya think? |

Yeah!
A MEGA DILLO AR wrench. I'd be in for one. I luvs my Dillo Bushing Wrench. pat |
|

we definitly need one of these mark. i would say you could do a real precise install with one of these. it would distrubute the force evenly. and it would also help do pain in the butt installs.

Thanks Tom

I don't know if that's such a good thing, because it looks like we're the only two that would like a new barrel wrench.

This must be catching on. |

I'd also appreciate a barrel wrench with more engagements pins, and slightly LONGER ones so I don't HAVE to compress the weld spring. And with slightly longer pins, you could be
a little less flat to the nut and not have it cam out of one of the recesses, thus causing the nut to be rounded over in that spot. Yeah, it should be a dillo, too. CJ |

Strange, but I buy and loan out (never to be seen again) AR barrel wrenches with frightening regularity. Getting a LaRue wrench will definitely change my habits. I'm thinking that engraving my last name on it would be the first thing I'd do, followed by a "Don't Ask To Borrow My Tools" sticker on the tool box...

Awesome. A ten-prong dillo with a 1/2 drive punched in it. that would be bad ass.

I think I'd probably give my left nut to see what all is on "The List". It ranks right up there with a tour of Area 51. |

I bet they keep "The List" at Area 51. If you could go on a tour there you would kill 2 birds with one stone. |
||||
|
Hmmmm... You may be onto something. Maybe we should lobby the .gov for a one day Area 51/LaRue List tour for all ARFCOMmers or something. I mean, we're all pretty trustworthy guys here... |
