I have a question:
Weapon: Desert Tactical SRS Rifle, 308 Winchester
Scope: Nightforce ATACR™ 4-16×42 F1 RIFLESCOPE
NVD: PVS-22, BNS, or PVS-14
Trying to research the pros and cons of
PVS-22 or BNS mounted in front of the objective of the scope
or PVS-14 mounted behind the eye piece
Images shamelessly pirated from TNVC website
Parameter: Dedicated night optics, not dual use, using LaRue scope mount, with 20 MOA elevation
Day optics is 5 X 25 F1 ATACR on an Ideal SPUHR mount
Range 100 to ~600 yards
I would assume PVS-14 mounted behind eyepiece will give optimal resolution at any given scope power, where-as NVD in front of scope, at max power will reduce resolution of the low night image.
On the other hand, with a 308 Win, will the PVS-14 yields enough eye relief?
Your input, recommendations, and suggestions are much appreciated.
