After almost 2 years of client requests and team development, its time to announce the world's first and only Night Vision Hunter training class!
What better place on which to undertake this than Wild River Ranch? I will post the link to the website explaining the finer details of the class but suffice it to say, there is nothing else like this anywhere. We have developed a unique class for hunters and shooters who want to improve their rifle and pistol skills, learn hunting techniques and then wrap all that up into the newest skill of all, night vision and thermal-assisted hunting.
As most of you know, Wild River Ranch has become the world leader in night vision / thermal hunting. We are among the most advanced developmental centers for 6.8 SPC cartridges, rifles, suppressors, and both civilian and military analysis of 6.8 ballistics, load development, aerial gunnery and forensic study of bullet performance. But our clients know us best as the number one destination for personalized, professional guided hog hunting. Now, we will be the number one destination for those wishing to acquire new skills or hone their existing skills to include low-light, stealth and night vision techniques applied specifically to hunting. We also plan to initiate a helicopter ground school, in the near future.
With the new additions to our training team, our cadre of professionals will teach the skills necessary for hunting at night, safely and effectively. This should be the first step hunters take before they come to WRR just to hog hunt. Given the dangerous nature of extreme, combat-style, night vision hog hunting, it is necessary for shooters to know their limitations, so as to improve their (and our) safety and of course, their success on killing hogs once the time comes to be at the tip of the spear dumping mags into sounders of scattering swine.
With the *Silver Training package, we can teach beginners the basic carbine / rifle skills necessary for low-light combat-style, offensive maneuvers on live feral hogs. This starts with introduction to the AR-15 platform, basic weapon maneuvers and function, shooting offhand and in various field positions. We then transition to the low light portion, and eventually to total blackout, using NV and thermal. We have a scrambler course that we will run with the students to apply time pressure, and mild to moderate physical fitness stress. These are all variables which occasionally cause our hunters to fall to pieces when the SHTF and the hogs are close. We feel this training will definitely increase the safety and harvest success of our hunters as they progress through the skill levels. http://www.wildriverranch.net/pricing.html
The *Gold Package includes everything above plus you will leave the ranch with your own, personal NV device! We will start with a choice of TNV-14 monocular, or a D-740-750 series scope from TNVC. We have also partnered with FLIR and IR DEFENSE to provide thermal devices but we will only sell those by special request. A HUGE part of this training will be to elucidate the difficulties in positive ID of targets, which, if not done carefully, could result in disastrous consequences. As the number of people with NV and thermal grows, so does the chance for inaccurate ID of targets, and we definitely do NOT want to see those types of accidents. It is one of our missions to teach people to do this responsibly so they can enjoy the thrill without the terrible burden they would place and bear if they were to shoot the wrong thing at night.

Our home team consists of the following staff trainers: Dr. Chris Lucci, Cris Hinojosa, Brett C. of Ironworks Tactical, and Jonathan C. of Ironworks. We will also bring in special guest trainers from time to time which we will announce later. I attended the TNVC Night Vision Defender Instructor's course in Brunswick Georgia in 2010, and the Night Vision Defender course, in Victoria TX in 2012, along with multiple carbine and pistol classes. I have 35+ years of guiding experience and 13 years as a night vision guide. Cris Hinojosa and I attended the 6-day CSAT Rifle Instructor course with Paul Howe, and Cris has taught many classes on his own. He is ex military, an experienced instructor, armorer and skilled NV guide. Jonathan and Brett have served in the military, then went on to become Federal LEO's, actively defending our country against terrorism, and now highly skilled instructors. Their pistol skills add tremendously to our overall training modules, and our staff depth.
Please see the WRR website for full details and contact info. www.wildriverranch.net. Please also feel free to ask questions in this thread, about the course. Bookings are now being take for the remainder of 2015 and into 2016. Spots will be limited!!
