That FLIR T-50 does not miss a lick! |
|
Haha, glad you enjoyed it, when you get back home safe & sound once again, the hogs are only 50 miles away...
|
|
That is one mean MF'ing bird that can really kick some serious ass, he ripped off that hog's head and flew away with it wrapped in his talons.....probably dropped it on some poor unfortunate Mohammed follower....

That is a six foot long 72" hydraulic grapple with 3,000 psi 4" cylinders for size comparison.
With six hundred pounds of pork in it jaws I could feel the FEL strain a bit lifting all that up! Tons of good meat though not of it was bovine, all porcine!!! |

Thanks for sharing, one of the best threads I have seen in a long while.
59 days and a wake up here for me. |

Was out tonight trying to bust a big boar that has been rooting my backyard all to heck and had this coyote show up, so took him out @ 175 yards with one Barnes 70 grain TSX using the FLIR thermal.
Here is a short 30 second thermal video of fur down: http://www.phossil.com/thom/Night%20Vision/FLIR%20T60/T60%20Coyote/T60%20Coyote.wmv |

This is awesome stuff. I'm just curious why you have not chosen to put a suppressor on your rifle, if it isn't on your to get list. I would think it would help get an extra shot or two off before they start running.

I We just got the okay from the Game and Fish Commission to use suppressors, so sent in my stamp about a month ago on a Gemtech Sandstorm for my 7.62mm, maybe here by Christmas if I am lucky.... |

I tell everybody about the diversity of wildlife in Florida and people are shocked. Bears, eagles, hawks, wolves, coyotes, bobcats, alligators, hogs, deer, turkey, panthers,
to name just a few. I love this state. I am purchasing a grappler for the front of my tractor when I return. That piece of equipment is awesome! |

That is a 72 inch SkidSteer grapple with two 3,000 pound hydraulic cylinder, it weighs 950 pounds and is solid AR400 steel, built like a tank!
http://www.skidsteersolutions.com/GR-Series-HD-Brush-Grapples-s/9419.htm AR 400 Steel - This is a steel with an even higher yield strength and it is more difficult to form than hi-tensile steel. Skid Steer Solutions uses this steel in attachments parts that contact the ground like our grapples. It has a minimum yield strength of 145,000 psi and a Brinell hardness of 400. It is heat treated, quenched and tempered to make AR plate. Other industry uses are where impact or sliding abrasion materials require tougher and harder steels to improve equipment life. High impact areas on tanks and HUMVEES. It works great as a weigh station too! |

I have been after this boar for the last six weeks or so, have not seen him in person but saw all the huge holes he left all over the property.
Finally I caught him on the game cam at 6AM in the morning and took the next day off from work so that I could be setup waiting for him @ 5:30AM. Sure enough, prior to sunrise, he showed up and I put him out with one shot. There are a couple more like him around but it was nice to be able to ambush him and take him out with the thermal in the dark. |
