I have tried to tighten this on 2 different(and new) barrel nuts with the same results. The rail wobbles well over 1/4 inch back and forth with all allen screws properly tightened. It just kinda flops around. I don't really want to grind the mating surfaces down on a precision-made rail, but I suppose I will have to if nothing else can be done about it.

Is this a common problem, or do I have a defective unit?

I bought this used from the EE here. It does not appear to be abused or beat up. Is there any transferrable warranty on these or am I stuck?

EDIT: I'd like to ad that this is my second Star-M and am very happy with the first one, which is why I bought this second one. I'd really like to get this one to work just as well.
