I took a chance on weight gain and bought the SS12G2 rail. I was hoping it would not add too much weight to my sons and my 16" carbine rifles. Here is the weight comparison:
Standard M4 profile 16" carbine length gas system,M4 single heat shield handguards, F marked standard A2 front sight, flat top upper rec.,A2 FH.
Same upper with the above mentioned rail, which consists of using the MI barrel nut,12" free float tube,MI low pro gas block, everything else the same.
Keep in mind, you are removing the standard barrel nut, delta ring assy.,handguards, & A2 front sight base.
Weights were taken without BCG/CH.
Standard M4 upper 53.2 ounces
Above with the SS12G2 50.3 ounces
It looks and feels incredible!
Thanks Midwest for helping me make our carbines modular, free floating, without turning them into heavy pigs!
I am already building a 20" rifle with the 15" version, and debating between a 9", 10", or 12" version for my pistol build!
