OK so we bought a full CMMG dedicated upper. Was the one with the railed gas block thingy on it. Bought it a while back but literally it sat in the safe for a while because of lack of good .22LR ammo. Now that I can somewhat find ammo for it, I've been trying to use it.
I get a TON of fails to extract and fails to fire.
I've tried 3 uppers, factory Noveske, factory Colt M4A1 Carbine and a Spike I built myself using a Daniel Defense LPK. All of them have ALG ACT triggers but the Colt. I pull the trigger and sometimes it fires, sometimes it doesn't. The times when it doesn't fire the rim looks barrel dented.
I yank the charging handle and it fails to extract the round 9 out of 10 times. I literally have to keep ripping on it until it finally extracts. If I do it slowly, I can watch the extractor move outwards off the rim and just pull back off the rim without pulling it out of the chamber at all.
I've tried pulling the carrier group apart and cleaning it. A little oil. A lot of oil. Greases, nothing helps. The edge of the extractor doesn't look precision cut at all if you know what I mean. Wondering if that is the issue. Yes nothing is bent, everything runs smooth.
I've tried Federal red box bulk box. Blue box bulk. Golden Bullet. CCI Mini-Mags. Federal Match. Doesn't seem to matter what I use, it doesn't work. This upper has less than 500 rounds threw it and I thought it would get better but it seems to be getting worse.
