Go it finished up Friday. I did get some so so phone pics which I will try to post up ASAP. I used Red Loctite and fired about 140 rounds Friday 16 hours after assembly. I got the barrel pretty hot, there was a nice heat mirage coming off the barrel. Firing all the rounds took about 30 minutes. Using the Strike Eagle at the 25 yard ranges was ridiculously easy.
Lessons learned.
1) Not as hard as I thought.
2) Biggest perceived issue was lining up the gas block. The BRD jig solved this issue, but the cost of the gas block and jig cost me about $100 more than I had planned. However, it took about 15 to do the job rather the time to grind down the A2 sight tower. Now I can replace any barrel I need to or gouge my friends to use the block LOL.
3) May not be a secondary market for DD Omega rails (My rail is still on the EE...)
4) I placed two dimples and one of the them ran into the rear roll pin track but it seems to hold fine so far.
Would I trust my life to this carbine? Who knows, not a duty weapon and I have other dedicated proven HD carbines and SHTF weapons. I will however use it to shoot more local club matches, if the S did HTF and this one was in my hands, I would not feel too bad. LOL
Next step is to get a proper 50 yard zero and shoot the local match next Saturday. I also want to see what it will do with 69 and 77 grn loads.
