A 12er calling someone else an FNG???? Say it ain't so...
PTD175, I am just kidding around and I concur with what your saying (not that I really know anything).
FWIW, I thought the OP's comment read like some GECKO45 shite. Honestly, I doubt the OP is even around any longer...probably in a gun store "educating the consumer on what a constitutes a quality weapon system acceptable for today's hard charger".
A serious question, do most police officers HAVE to buy their own duty carbine? Is it a case of you can carry it if you buy it? Could the OP have carried an armory carbine till her upper came back from BCM?
Where I live the police department did trials (many years ago) and transitioned from 870Ps to M4 like ARs that ride in a rack in the police cars. I think they are pre-split Bushmasters. My friend is a special unit guy and he is issued an HK 416. I am pretty sure they have to stick with the issue weapons for liability reasons. My background / frame of reference is all Navy ships, you go to the armory, they hand you whatever it is you are supposed to carry and off you go. (I did have my own belt and holster setup though).
POWs for duty, what a concept. But I guess if it is a matter of buying your own to increase your chances of getting home safe each watch, I know what my choice would be.
Thanks

Mike

Since you are an FNG please do me a favor and don't come across as an ass. This job is difficult enough and plenty of people do not like you for the simple fact that you put on a uniform with a badge on it. Don't make them hate you more by saying you are LEO and don't have time to ship it. You just have to tape your box up, print off the FedEx label and schedule a pick up. You sound lazy and as if you are full of excuses. Cause you then say you just got off FTO and it's your duty weapon. So which is it, you don't have time or you can't cause it's your duty weapon. And for what it's worth I'm also LEO with over 10 years, have been a training officer for six of those years and unfortunately have given similar attitude advice to several of the 20+ recruits I have trained.
Also did you specifically ask for a partial refund or just tell them about the perceived issue and see what their response was?

This is my duty weapon since I just got off fto, I rather not be without my only superior weapon while on the road. In what shipping would have cost plus hassle you could of at least offered to refund the difference of what a blemished upper would be since that is what I received.
