It didn't take me long to realize after I got it that a 24" varmint weight barrel (.920" at the gas block) is just a monster to do anything but benchresting with. I am finally to the point where I am going to let ADCO cut it down to 18". I would have done it sooner, but I hate messing with a barrel/rifle that shoots 1" groups at 200 yards (best to date 7/8"). But I'll be 64 years old on my next birthday and I just don't want to lug this brute around...not even from the truck to the shooting bench.
My question is a two-part one. 1.) What crown angle does your company use when crowning barrels, and 2.) what angle is considered best for accuracy?
I don't mind losing a little bit of accuracy as the trade-off for improving the weight/handling, but I'd still like it to be as accurate as possible.
