What's funny is that "warsaw" length is 4 clicks out (first click being CLOSED on an M4 collapsible) on your average AR stock. Most people run their AR's 2 clicks out (2 clicks PAST closed, so some consider it 3rd). Warsaw, for the average AR user is way too long, yet many AK users clamor for longer length. Personally, I wish I could shorten all my warsaw AK stocks by a full 1 inch.
I think what we're dealing with is generational. Newer gen shooters shoot squared up (thus require short stocks), which the elder generation is more prone to shooting "chicken wing" bladed style (which requires longer stock length).
The magpul FCS (for AR's) is in between 2 and 3 clicks (so a decent compromise), but as for AK's... there isn't anything less than that yet (chicken wing it is!).
What's funny is that warsaw WAS considered "short" (for chicken wing shooting) and was meant to be short for heavy clothing, but NOT since the American "squared up" shooting stance took hold.
A warsaw stock gives you approx 9.25 of stock with almost 13" LOP (that's a LOT). Your typical AR on position 3 (Closed=1) is almost 8.5" of stock/tube length, with 11.75 LOP.
So warsaw may seem short compared to an A1 or A2... but nothing else (in fact, warsaw is grossly oversized itself for squared up shooting).
