I just want to note that every single competitor this year used an AR variant. 3x .308s and 2x 5.45s, with the rest of the 73 (?) competitors with a 5.56. And while I didn't exactly count, I also can't recall seeing any of those 68x 5.56 rifles using anything but P-mags. Pretty sure the .308s used the XL P-mags, too. ... I'm just saying. I think I only used 20 rounds, +/- a few? I don't remember.
And that was with some "speculative fire" at where Ace told me the last target was. I couldn't see it, but I can follow directions. The CWAR concept works, and reg'lar PMags are ideal. That said, I bought some 40s anyhow because... Why not? But I think when they make PeepMags, the 30rd standard size is what they should do. That's my opinion, at least, and I'm an expert on the internet so I'm sure I'm right. |

Drake, forgive us for having a bit of fun with some inside jokes. I assure you, it's all in good nature, and we appreciate your people, your products, and your support.
Cola Warrior is a grassroots (mud... roots? You get the idea.) shooting competition with somewhere around 200 prior and near-future participants, and it's growing. Rusted Ace came up with the idea as a sort of hybrid satire and one-up-manship of the various 'mud runs' out there that people pay frankly crazy money to compete in. He also added elements of combat shooting, then gave entry away for free to anyone willing to punish themselves. I don't know where the soda came from, and I really wish we didn't have to do it. It's by far the most brutal part. In any case, it all sounds absurd... Until you do it. I know this is going to sound insane, but the three CWs I've run have been, by far, the most effective training I've ever had. You hear all the time, high end instructors say things like, "professionals train until they get it wrong." Well, nothing against anybody else's training program, but Cola Warrior shows you all of your failure points inside fifteen minutes, for free. For that kind of time and financial output, nothing can touch it. Ultimately, it's a fun competition that doesn't take itself too seriously, that a lot of people have come to love. We started getting sponsors two years ago, and a lot of people from the industry have come out to compete and have made some custom parts and swag for the winners. In fact, Magpul sponsored last year's Cola Warrior East event held in Appomattox, VA. I spoke with Trish (let me know if I should remove for persec) to coordinate that, and everyone was very appreciative of the prizes you donated. My repeated thanks are certainly in order. Now, to the "Peep Mags." A lot of guys have started modding/customizing some of their gear using various themes from the event. Peeps, or the silhouette of them at least, have been particularly pervasive. There are dustcovers, mag floor plates, tshirts, patches... At least one tattoo... 23Pistol23, our resident pixel smasher, made a series of animated graphics parodying some of your logos. If you google "Tabpul Dynamics Mindset" you'll... Well, you'll see. Now, it had always been my assumption that you guys knew about some of the shenanigans, and simply ignored it, because, understandably, a large professional organization doesn't necessarily want to get directly involved with certain local-level internet chatter. I took your sponsorship last year as a tacit nod of, if not approval, at least acceptance, and this thread is really just about asking for a little bit more. We know you have done color runs in the past, and being completely naive about your business practices and costs, some of us just assumed that it would be perfectly reasonable to ask you to do one run in a custom color for us, if we could fund the whole thing upfront. If that was wildly unreasonable, then it was only due to ignorance. Don't tase me, bro? But, if you do want to sell a whole run of mags, here's our money. Not literally here, here, but I'm saying we're happy customers that want more. If we're way to crazy to take seriously, I completely understand that. Thanks for your support in the past, and I truly hope there's no hard feelings. But I hope we can work together again, whether the run of mags happens or not, and I hope Magpul finds that being in the Cola Warrior family is as rewarding as our other industry sponsors find it. Thanks again, and I'm completely open to any requests or questions you might have. |

The whole Tabpul thing started as a joke. Somebody was going to give a prize for best training video so I went with the Magpul Dynamic type format. Featuring Chris Coca or Chris Cola, Travis Pepsi, and of course modeled after you, Dr. Drank. See video below. This then evolved into Tabpul Industries or Tabpul Dynamics. I started making parodies of you guys mindset posters. Which can be seen here. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1486290_.html The "man up and sponsor" was just a quote from RustedAce that I thought was funny. You guys sent a lot of gear for Cola Warrior east last year whether you know it or not. We are very thankful for that. Geissele has been a great contributor from day 1 and the cult has followed and spouts praise everywhere they go. We just wanted to have you guys as a sponsor because we love everything you do. It seems to me by the various activities you guys are into, that this would be right up your alley. As in crazy, somewhat exclusive, oddball type events. Just make sure you know that I and probably most everybody loves what you do. I love the gear, the marketing, the vehicles, and pretty much anything you guys come up with. I only use pmags and Magpul grips on my rifles. It would be a great pleasure for you to have anything to do with us. -Pistol |
