Ok, I am going to be late to work now, but I have to reply to the people in this thread whining about this idea because that really pisses me off..
Its not about who gets their precious Pmags first before someone else.. if you had any common sense you would have ordered all that you need well before a certain president was reelected.. do you really think that this buying panic wouldn't happen again like it did in every recent election? It doesn't matter who was elected, it would still happen.. that is regardless of the mass shootings, which just made things that much worse..
The idea behind these magazine laws, both those introduced into Colorado, and the gun laws that have been discussed at the federal level (more in regards to "assault rifles"), are to restrict or prohibit sales of something ("high capacity" =standard capacity mags in this case) so that in so many years there won't be anymore of these items around (apparently once all of us that currently own them die, and of course obey the law about not passing them on to anyone else).. to an extent, this will work just by new product not being available to purchase (note the number of pre-89 import rifles for sale now vs. 10 years ago - much less).. but the people formulating these laws have NO idea how many mags are out there and how many people stockpile mags to the point where they could build their own two-story Pmag house if they wanted..
So a large influx of mags into Colorado before this stupid ban takes effect would be in direct opposition to these new laws, and it would at least make the politicians looks stupid for a little while, especially if it was on all of the local Denver channels.. in a very public event.. it would also get more mags into the hands of people that in theory won't be able to purchase them any longer after July, which is not the case for most of you whiners in other states waiting for your Brownell's backorder that you should have placed a year ago.. oh, and btw whoever said mags aren't date coded has apparently never actually looked at a mag by any manufacturer..
And yes, I am from Colorado, but not all of us in the state were responsible for the current political stupidity as has also been implied in this thread.. I would feel bad and encourage a similar program for any state that faced a similar situation.. I'm sure not everyone in NY was responsible for the stupidity that just occured there.. unfortunately it is too late to ship them a million Pmags to dump on Times Square..
Also for the record I have all of the Pmags I would ever need (though not enough to build a house), but I would gladly support Magpul in any effort like this, even if it was just a donation to offset the cost of some public event..
