I imagine we are seeing so much of it because that will be the only config offered at the beginning (fixed stock, AR lower and 16in barrel in black) |

Does anyone know the weight differences between the fixed, folding, and PRS stocks?

That's what I'm afraid of concerning the stock. Part of my prime interest is the folding/adjustable option. Hopefully it can be ordered with the right stock initially. |

Anyone know Bushmasters warranty track record on weapon modifications? I mean I wouldn't want them to deny a warranty if I swap in the folder and change the barrel to a Noveske 12.5... |

Shorter than A1. It's perfect... I'm in love with it. |

silly question:
how do the rails attach? and are they included? |
|
|
Looks like something is wrong with the charging handle the bottom one. Bent or broken?? |

I think it's just the angle the the photo is taken. ETA notice the position of the vents at the bottom of the hand guard. |

I found a few pics I have not seen, but I am too lazy to photobucket them all.

Allright guys, now that things are getting serious. When are we going to get some solid intel on release dates, price, and production numbers?

IF, emphasis on IF, there is something going to happen I wouldn't expect it until much later. If they are seen jillyflicking with an "unimportant" issue it wastes some of the polictical capital that got them there. Opinions on gun control were voiced but realistically only to show their stance. It wasn't a big campaign item. All the eyes are on them to "fix the problems". Other than the usual suspectts, who has been really vocal about the issue? They still sting from the '94 election. It showed them what happens to the smug and proud.

I did my monthly google image search for some new pics, but I can't find anything new.
Alot of us are still interested in these two projects, even though we may have been upset when we recieved the latest update. Magpul guys. Is there any chance of maybe getting one more pic to drool over. p.s. Is there any chance of getting one of those little red pins so this doesn't slip into the archives. |

from what I read on Defenselink, Colt, FNH, & HK have won the Military contract for the IAR. Bushmaster/Remington's ACR didn't. Does this mean good news for us?

your right. it was an Army contract not the USMC IAR contract.

But did apparently participate in the Big Army sit-down in Washington last month. -Along with 18 others vying for the Holy Grail of small arms contract awards. What the article called "an industry day designed to help Army weapons officials assess what the U.S. small-arms industry is capable of producing" "CARBINE DAY" - Story LINK to the competitors entries Provided the story is right....here were the invitees and their weapon of choice: Bushmaster (ACR, at least, maybe BM had other weapons on 'display') Colt Defense - Advanced Carbine LWRC - M6A4 IAR entry Troy Industries - M7A1 Hk - 416 (of course) SIG - "556 Classic" Robinson's - XCR Sabre Defense - M5 Tactical FN-USA - SCAR- L Smith & Wesson - MP4 KAC - SR15 - IWS Precision Reflex (PRI) 'Upper only' sample Superior Arms - S-15 Barrett Firearms Mfg.- REC7- PDW Patriot Arms (POF) - P416 This is not breaking news of course, but it does show the Army is at least prepared to go through the motions now that the contract is almost up, and is giving even companies without a realistic shot at 'winning' the opportunity to compete. It would not be a surprise to see invitations go out to a few of these - or others - to put them thru the full-house wringer. That is when it would get interesting. |

ACR at SHOT 09?

All of those Magpul videos where you see someone shooting a rifle, should start off with the cameraperson say, "Bust 'Em!", not "Ready", or "How we lookin'?"

Pretty amazing Colt's entry is the only one lighter and shorter while not being a sub 11.5" barrel.
I'd say the ACR looks to be the most logical, but suspect the Colt entry teamed with the SCW will win based on politics. No offense to Superior Arms, but WTF? A piston driven A1 upper with an M4 lower? [>:/] |
