For those who are members or staff...

I took the 4 day practical rifle class there in Jan 06. Great basics, good instructors, fun trip. I was curious as to the choice of grey and black BDU style uniforms in a desert environment. It seems a little much in my opinion.

So what is the rationale?

Thanks
Paul

It is the dress code. Makes it easy for students to ask for help. Anyone in a Gray Shirt or Polo and a Black Front Sight ball cap, will help you out with what you need.

It identifies the Range Master, Rover, and Instructors. The Line Coaches have white polos.

The BDU's give you pockets to put gear (Foam Earplugs for students and staff if they forget theirs, extra eye protection to change to as things get dark, cleaning kits, extra flashlights, gloves, bottle of water, etc).

The uniform is too hot in the summer, and too cold in the winter.

I get the idea of the uniform, I am just curious as to the color scheme. Wouldn't more subdued or natural colors be better? Light blue polo, tan 5.11 pants or something less militant looking.

I'm not the boss, I did not get to pick.

So it is what it is. I suggest you contact the main office (info on the web sight) with your comments (pro and con).

Agreed. The uniforms are not the greatest choice.

To top that off I only have two shirts and one of them is way too short. And no field jacket.

I just completed a 4-day handgun course, and I found the Ernst Rohm get-ups VERY off-putting, until I got to know the instructors a bit. Poor sartorial choice.

i just finished the 4 day rifle and noticed the same thing. the uniforms reminded me of mall security guards.
dont get me wrong the training was excellent but the uniforms are something to be desired.
maybe keep the pants but change the tops. a simple t shirt top would look much better.
