I attempted to make a purchase from two of Del-Ton's competitors (I needed a 20" 1:8 barrel that they did not have). In both cases, the item was shown as available on-line and the order was accepted.
In the first case, it was a week later before I received an e-mail to the effect that it would be 6 to 8 months before the item could ship.
In the second case, on the order acknowledgement, I was directed to a vague message that said that "certain items" could be a long lead. I sent an e-mail asking whether the barrel back-order could be a matter of weeks, months or years and was told that they could make no specific forecast.
Both orders were cancelled.
I did find the barrel elsewhere.
In the case of Del-Ton, each item that I ordered was immediately acknowledged or declined prior to their acceptance of the order. Even though they did not have everything that I needed, that level of response reflects well on their organization.
