Just wondering, my scalp is sooo bad ever since I came back from Afghanistan in 08, it is reaching ridiculous proportions now, tea tree oil, selson blue, head and shoulders, etc.. none of that shit works, not one bit.
I'm at the end of my rope here.. anyone else have the same problems?

Hmm never thought of it, but I had shingles out of the blue about a year after the end of my service (similar timeframe to you), and have had eczema in weird spots on my body (hands, where it is common, and the back of one calf, repeatedly). Almost as if something was once splashed on me, but I don't recall any incidents that would have caused that.

Yupper

Tried tea tree oils, as well as visit to mil hospital.  Gave me a medicated shampoo....cant recall the name...but it's back yet again.  Feel like a fucking snake shedding skin

Lol

not me, but one of my buddies had bad rashes and scabs on his feet after his first afghan deployment,  I think I picked up a bit of a fungus over there, but my feet arent scabby and peeling all the time like his

well glad to know I'm not the only one (kinda, sorry you guys have issues too)
I'm at my wits end because NOTHING is working to alleviate this, and it's embarassing as hell. I wish I could get rid of this shit

Have you tried sulfur? Mom came back from Africa with something on her back and nothing worked better than sulfur soap.

Every since Japan I have the same issue.

Opened some boxes from the same place I went earlier this week and a burning like rash appeared.

I had severe foot fungus after returning from the Philippines in 1988.  When I attended IOBC at FT. Benning in 1992, part of the heel on my left foot fell off as if it was a crust of bread.  The VA gave me some foot cream in the last year that seemed to end this recurring fungus between my toes.  I've generally suffered from endless itches on my back.  I always thought it had to do with wearing those chemical warfare charcoal lined suits all the time.

I'll add it to the list of shit I get to experience when I die before my time.  Fuck.  Where is this secret line I need to step into?

I was in samarra in 04-05, got the skin rashes real bad there, woke up one day with hives on top of hives from something my body didn't like.. got a steroid shot from the doc and every hive turned purple so I looked like Joe Pesci and his brother from casino before they got buried in the cornfield
my feet are all jacked up, skin is messed up and my scalp snows like the Alps... this shit sucks.

It won't necessarily cure the rashes and the scalp, but I suffer this same problem as a civilian. Wash your hair in vinegar. Don't rinse it, let it soak in. It'll also help on the rashes (I get it on my chest). But also the $1 tube of cortisone cream from Walmart will provide some relief as well.

I came back an noticed my sweat smelled different. Like its pungent now. Smells like ammonia. A few guys in my unit said the same thing.

After Afghanistan ('10), I now have "freckles" on my feet that weren't there before, which occasionally turns into a dry skin/rash kind of a thing.  By buddy has the same shit on his forearms.

Yes. Kandahar in 09. Full body though. Death with it for years because .mil docs said it was allergies. VA said it was various types of skin fungal infections.

Shoot me a pm reminder tomorrow as I'm away from home and I'll send you the name of the scalp/face/beard shit.

It's a god send, but they said I will likely need it forever.

I broke out all over my body, hands, feet, face around my eyes. Real red burning rash, it would "weep" fluid, the crust over and be flakey
After my second tour to Iraq, I had a huge breakout on my face, and on my right thigh. Could never get an answer as to what it is

Still break out occasionally
I fact, I've got a minor breakout on my arm as I type this
After My 4th deployment (Astan) I get terrible foot fungus, never had foot issues til during and after that tour

A good friend friend of mine and our company commander at the time both came home with bald spots. Spots like a cheetah only no hair.

I wouldn't say severe, but I started losing my hair in Iraq, I still have issues with acne that I never had in my adolescent years, and I've developed what I believe to be eczema on my palms. I've served in Iraq and Afghanistan so who knows where these conditions came from.

See a dermatologist
I've been seeing one for a few years now
Doubt its service related other than they bitch at me about having buzzed my hair short for so long

In between toes since 06 in Ramadi.  Comes back every few months, dry or not, hot or cold.  Itches some, hurts more, and it's just between my pinky toes.

Dude I get the same shit on my feet I was in Mosul 06-07 and then Tallil 09-10 and the Stan 2011 and now back again. I have went to the docs about that shit and they just tell me it's athlete's feet. I don't think so as I never had this shit before I went to Iraq. I also have problems with my skin being really dry and shit and they cant figure that one.

Really dry skn, check vitamin levels/thyroid function

Something may be inhibiting your production of oils

That is how mine started.  It will work its way between all of your toes before it is over.  I remember wanting to take a bore brush and chuck it up to a drill to clear that stuff out!  VA gave me some type of cream that cleared this up.  It lasted about twenty years before I found relief.  Sometimes it would be bad and others like it never happened.

Thyroid function may be one of those "after iraq" things.

Mine was perfectly healthy until my second deployment, then, bam, not working.  A few of the other guys I was with had the same problem.
