THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT My brother gives me hope for the world because of who he is. He graduated college with a BS in Physics, BS in Aero Engineering and a MS in Aero Engineering. He's also a commercially certified pilot who has walked away from two engine failures. After the second one he waited an hour to calm down and then flew another plane home. This kid could have done anything but chose the Army when all his friends chose desk jobs. Recently I've started building knives and I'm thinking about making him one with an Army seal in the scales but I'm not sure about that. What other things might y'all have to recommend? |

Depends on your budget and his job. Matching M9's or AR's?

Going to get a set of these for my Para deployment pistol. If he will be carring a M9 while he is in (Officer/MP etc...) these would look great.https://www.gungrips.net/id163.htm

Why not make him the knife? It would be something with thought and heart behind it, something meaningful and that there is no price tag on.

If he were at Paris Island I'd consider it. |

I think that the knife is a great idea. What is your brother's M.O.S.? Anything that he will be in the field carrying a knife?
My nephew just graduated from basic training at Ft. Benning. I thought about buying him a knife but didn't...then I went to his graduation and he talked about how he wanted to get a good knife. He's already bought one but I may get him a better one. |

He's going to be 15D because of his aviation background while waiting (hoping for) a flight slot.
Several times he's tried to snag my good safety wire pliers but I'm sure those will be issued to him. The knife seems to be a good way to go so I bought two kits last night that I can practice on prior to making his. |

Post a pic of the knife when you get it done. I'd like to see it.

Knife made by you is perfect. I received a knife after one of my graduations and it is one of the best I have ever gotten. It was an engraved KBar

I don't have that kind of skill.
How attached to their BCT company? Would that be worth incorporating into the knife? |

He could have gone WO or Officer right out of the gate? |

If you are looking for a knife for him, these guy do knives with branch insignia and campaign medals (Vietnam, Iraq, etc.) integrated into them. Maybe they could put together something for your brother.

He needs to drop a Warrant packet asap with that kind of background.

One of our close family friends just retired as the TAG and was instrumental in his career choice. He would like to fly but wanted to be Army regardless of his job.
He's a grown man who chose his own path. I'd like to see him as a chopper pilot but I'm proud of him just for stepping up to the bar. |

This, I don't know a job in the military where a good knife wouldn't come in handy every once in a while. I say build the knifelike your life depends on it because someday maybe his will. Just make sure it's not some tacky ghey 16 inch Rambo wannabe blade, keep it around 5-8 inch blade length. |
