THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I was laid off earlier this year. After I thought about things in my life, I discovered I have no direction in which to go. I think Mil would be good for me, I have a few friends that are still in. I have always wanted to join but I was to Fat. I was 5'7" 310lbs four years ago. Today I am 195lbs 5" 6.5". Talked to the recruiter and talked to him and took the practice ASVAB and got a shitty 75. I was a solid mid B student, and this was high school math/reading. I filled out two packets of papers, and turned in all my shit, all my shit. I am to take the real ASVAB this Monday. I would like to practice more so I can get a higher score, so any help would be great. Thanks everyone Edit now with scores got a 92 GT 130 CL 128 CO 136 EL 136 FA 135 GM 138 MM 145 OF 139 SC 133 ST 134 The recruiter said I did Very well. But we still need my Med History to comeback before I can pick a MOS.. Edit Just got a call my med came back good. Hurry up and wait 2 weeks. ![]() going to to pick a job tomorrow (Maybe), and MEPs on Wed/Thursday. Oh and my old boss call me and told me about a similar job at our sister Newspaper about 5 minutes from my house with same base pay, no bonus, but I get to pick my hours. Then ten minutes later, the person I would replace called me too. She asked me to come in tomorrow to talk. Two hours later the Army called.. 3 months and they both call within two Fricken hours!?!?!? |

Unfortunately i am a recruiter. A 75 is pretty good, as long as you get over a 50 and a 110 or higher GT score you will be fine to do most things in the Army. For practice tests online the Army's suggested site is : march2sucess.com. I have a GED so i would spell check that. Also you can check out 4tests.com it has several practice tests for the ACT, SAT, ASVAB and another test.
But seriously, dont stress a 75 is good |

GT score is your general technical. The score your looking for is the AFQT or just QT, I have no idea what that one means. When you take the actual ASVAB, you get the QT and also line scores, the line scores play a role in what MOSs are availible to you.
For the jobs availibility. we have a live system that shows what training slots are availible at that exact time. it lists any incentive packages, the training date, and the number of positions availible. Jobs are scarce right now and incentives are virtually non existant. I was looking for a job today for a high school grad with over 50 on the ASVAB and was surprised that there was 10 different jobs availible and a few had Airborne options with them and one had an Airborne Ranger training slot. But like I said, the jobs are updated daily and everybody in the Recruiting command all over the United States is pulling jobs from the same system. I hope this helps you, feel free to ask them and I will answer them to the best of my ability. |

The other day. Does one still use pencil/paper, and bouble in scan-tron style sheet? |

When we test locally they use a paper version of the test. If you test at MEPS it is computerized. This is just in my area, so it could be different where you are processing. I personally haven't seen an active duty bonus in a long time. But I have seen several Reserves get bonuses, usually 6k-10k.

And get a MOS that transitions to a outside job of some sort. Unless I like and stay in for 20... |

Charlie, are you thinking about joining? Get a 18X contract, once you are in the pipeline and done with SFAS and SFQC I can pull some strings so you could get 10th Group in Germany.
Well, on the other hand you might be better off with some computer/IT job that translates into something well paying in the outside world. |

Line scores were all 131+ Is that something you really need to shoot for in October every year? And damn good job on your score! |

The WOFT program is always available. Your recruiter lied to you. Only something like 250 people in the whole country even went to the board last year, and 70% were selected.
