Duty gun is a G23, considering going with my g26, which is my current everday ccw, a g43, or a g27.  I like the idea of a g27 for ammo/mag compatabliity with my primary. Open to other suggestions thou.

G42. Department policy is BUG has to be 380/38. Don't ask me why, I have no idea. I'd rather have the G43

I carry a G17 and a G26.
Spares are all ETS 22round mags (one if wearing plain clothes, 3 on my raid vest)

If you carry a G23, I would carry a G27 for a BUG. And all my spare mags would be G22 mags with glock extenders on them. If you are in that bad of a fire fight you need to reload, you will want the extra few rounds...

The difference in recoil between the 26 and the 27 is not much, and the ability to use your duty guns magazine is worth its weight in gold.

We carry G23 and I carry a G26 (which I had from when we carried G17/19's). Ammo compatibility is great and one of the reasons I got the 9mm when we carried 9mm's.

However I figure if I'm going to my BUG at this point either I or my Primary or both are pretty fucked up. I can shoot the shit out of my G26 off hand and in all kind of fucked up positions so I see getting quality hits on target fast, with my BUG while potentially injured/fighting for my primary as a big plus. I don't think I could shoot a G27 as good in that kind of situation.

In the end YOU have to carry what YOU are confident in and know you can fight with.

Just my reasoning, YMMV.

My BUG is a Kahr PM9. That's a tough call. Instead of the 26, I'd go with the 27 due to primary. +1 to above, do what works best for you. I can't use my primary mags in my BUG, but I can use the ammo. When might this be necessary? Probably never.

Glock 26 gen4. Primary is Glock 34 gen4 main reason is mag compatibility.

Used to carry a S&W 36-7 .38 in my left pocket.

New uniform pants with smaller pockets, now I carry a LCP .380 in my left pocket.

IMHO the primary purpose of my back up is to immediately draw and fire multiple times at close range if an aggressor has gained physical control of my primary weapon/it's holster. I am not particularly concerned with magazine compatibility.

Glad to see I'm not the only one.  If I carry a BUG it's this in my back offhand pocket.  As soon as I figure out a good way to carry my G27, I will carry that.

Duty is a Glock 23 with a Glock 26 backup. I carry a spare G 19 mag on my duty belt separately from my duty mags.I bought a Glock 27 when we switched over from the Glock 19 but The reason for carrying the   26 is I have G 19 mags all over the place and just a few G 27 mags.. Glock 26 is also my off duty.

I carry a glock 22 gen 3 for duty and a glock 27 gen 4 as bug and off duty gun. Main reason is mag compatibility. There's talk we may switch to glock 17s in the future. If that happens I will get a glock 26 for a bug and off duty

Kahr PM45.  My Wilson 45 mags work in it.  When I'm forced to go Glock I'll carry the G26 as a backup.

The G27 is a pretty snappy piece, and does give up a little capacity over the 26. I'd consider it if your going to carry the 23 and the BUG at the same time. If not I'd say the 26 would be "easier" to shoot and offers marginal extra capacity with little ballistic loss, it be my pick unless like I said you were carrying 40 call mags already.

My duty gun is a 22 and my backup is a 27 for that exact reason.

When I carried a G17, my BUG was a G19.

Now I carry an XD45Tactical, and my BUG is an XD45c.

I'm thinking of switching out to a SA TRP 1911 for duty carry, and if I do, my BUG will be a SA Champion or a Colt New Agent.

My BUG takes the same mags as the primary.
