I go light. I'm downtown Dallas though

Wiss yellow handle tin snips for drop ceilings
1 cheap LED flashlight
1 pelican Flashlight

Medical gloves are taken in with the medical bag on medical runs. I don't need them in my pants.

*remember down here I will wear turnout pants more than my jacket

All other things are on the multiple trucks responding
everything else those guys on the engine thingy will bring

If we go beyond the engine thingy the ambulance heros will bring the rain.

This is what I do. I'm not in your area. Carry what you think you will need. Don't be a human leatherman though.

One of those combination wire/cable cutter /spanner / gas shutoff / crimp / tools . Pretty much just for the cutting and spanner'ing capabilities. and a loop of webbing. I too like my setup light, everything else I need is on the truck. I do however carry what the guys affectionately (im sure) call a "man bag" that has spare nomex, gloves, and a few other items. It stays on the truck.

No 6-in-1 screwdriver yet?

Y'all slacking.

Leatherman tools are great, but you can change tips on a 6-in-1 without removing your gloves.

Yep.  Forgot that and the survivor light.

As little as possible

I carry webbing in both pockets, a shove knife, lineman pliers, small flashlight, a knife, an extra hood, door chocks and that stupid safety vest in my bunker pockets. ( I don't mind wearing it, just bulky and aggravating.)

In my coat I have work gloves and safety glasses for extrication.

L pocket:
extrication gloves
hood

R pocket:
flashlight
straight cut tin snips
"dikes"
small spanner wrench
leather work gloves

Stuck in my boots that comes out and goes on the dash when I throw my gear on the truck:
Ear muffs (for hearing protection, not warmth)
Traffic vest

Coat:
structural gloves on a glove strap
PAR tag

Helmet:
spare hood in the suspension system
light mounted to brim

I have a small "military" style mechanic's bag that I keep on the truck with stuff I used to carry in my bunkers and realized it didnt work well for me. In the bag I have:
regular pliers
cable cutters (for soft electrical cable ie. car batteries)
6in1 screwdriver
extra traffic vest
LED head lamp
2AA LED mag light
4 glow sticks
Oxygen tank wrench
Spare clear safety glasses
Spare ear plugs

When I was riding an engine (god I miss it)...
Leatherman tool on a suspender strap, watchcap and flashlight in a coat pocket, hood in the inside pocket. Pants had structural gloves, extrication gloves, a couple rubber wedges, 30' of webbing, 25' of utility rope, a couple carabiners, window punch, and cable cutters. General-use knife was clipped to the back of my helmet frontpiece.

Now a lot of my "stuff" is put into a shadow box for display. So be it.
