THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
If you were ever stationed at Ft. McClellan, AL between 1933 and 1999, you were exposed to a combination of toxic chemicals which may be effecting your health right now. If your family was with you, their health may be effected as well. The facts of the exposure are undisputed but the government does not want you to know because it will cost them money and the numbers of veterans and families exposed are enormous.
I am a former Military Police Officer(U.S. Army) and a former Deputy Sheriff/Detective (Orange County Sheriff's Office). Although the base was closed in 1999 because of the chemical contamination, none of us were notified. This was by design. All branches of the military trained at Ft. McClellan, and many were first responders, but the fact is that it was the main base for Military Police training school so if you are a first responder, you or someone you know is effected. Please get the word out. People deserve to know why they, their spouses, and their children are ill. Some of the illnesses are as simple as ADD, and some are as serious as cancer. The majority seem to run in neurological, endocrine, and autoimmune, but depending on when one was exposed and the level of exposure, the list can be quite extensive.
I am including a link that has more details as well as links to government studies. Please take a minute to read the story and then pass along to every single person you know.

http://lawenforcementtoday.com/2012/07/03/poisoned-patriots-of-ft-mcclellan/

Monsanto paid 700 million dollars in damages to the residents of Anniston for the contamination but veterans were excluded. In fact, they were never even notified. The VA and congress are hedging their bets that none of us will put this together but it is coming out. Every year they can postpone the story is a year of financial savings. There is currently a bill in the House HR2052, that would require the V.A. to tell us all and maintain a registry of all that were exposed, but so far it hasn't gotten out of Committee so they still aren't obligated to tell us.
If anyone has any questions or wants more information, you can email me at poisonedpatriots@aol.com. Again, please read and forward.

How about not spamming our Message Board with BS? I'm betting this thread will be nuked and OP banned for various reasons.

McClellan was BRAC'd in '95 and closed in '99 on a timeline, it was not closed "due to chemical contamination". I remember becasue a buddy attended OSUT there and GLakes was on the "short list and we were watching to see which of the three NTC's were going to close.

Not doubting the possibility of exposure, but it actually would have been cheaper for the taxpayer to keep it (as well as a number of other bases) open, even if only with a sinngle company occupying a barracks.

Why? All the bases that were DEMILed had to be cleaned up, as once they were surplused they no longer fell under the DoD exemption to a smorgasbord of federal anti-pollution laws. HH6 worled for one of the remediation companies for a few years.

McClellan is far from the only one.

Appreciate the input, but the fact that your e-mai lis from a law firm makes this "announcement" seem awfully like solicitinng clients - IOW, an advertisement, which are only allowed in very limited amounts in GD.

If you feel this thread is being locked in error, please feel free to contact any of the Site Staff. While you are at it, may I suggest you post in the Military forum as well, as there are folks who visit there and not GD.

Thank you,

Received information via IM that the OP is not soliciting business or clients related to this matter and is posting it to notify veterans of the matter.

If this winds up being untrue it will be dealt with.

I seem to remember a thread about this a couple years ago. It caught

Yeah I know. Call it an exercise in trust.

Was assured in an Email that the OP was not soliciting clients and that they were former 95 Bravo that had been stationed there.

A change in contact Email was suggested to the OP.

If anyone winds up being solicited as a result of this thread then please post it here or IM me. That would constitute a breach of contract IMHNLO.

I was taken aback by the assumption that I was somehow soliciting clients until my husband reminded me that there are a lot of sleezy attorneys who will do anything for a buck. Before I became an attorney, I made fun of them too so I guess I can see why one might be suspicious. Point taken, folks but in this case sincerely untrue. I, and many of my fellow soldiers were exposed. People I know personally have serious illnesses because of this. What I am, frankly, is ticked off that my own government can seriously withhold this information. I am outraged on behalf of the soldiers, their families, and the children, some of whom have cancers. My primary "agenda" is to get the word out. No money in this for me at all. Not now, not ever. I just think people deserve to know. If you share my concern, pass it along. If you were a veteran of this base, you now have the information if something should later come up with your health. For the men, there is a lot of testicular cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer (even in men in their 40s) and thyroid issues. For women a a lot of breast cancer, diabetes, and cancers of the reproductive systems. The children have everything from ADD to cancer. If anyone wants any information whatsoever about these issues, contact me. poisonedpatriots@aol.com. Until the legislation goes through to make the government tell the veterans that were stationed there that they were exposed, I will do my best to get the word out however possible.

Wow... I am former 95B who trained at McClellan (C co., 787th MP Batt), who is now a 18 year City cop.. I was diagnosed in January with an exceedingly rare version of colon cancer (stage 4) that my doctors can't explain... My doctors have been stumped because they estimate I developed my cancer at the age of 30 (I'm now 41) and they have never seen/treated anyone this young develop this particular cancer... I'm currently undoing chemo and have a decent chance of extending my initial diagnosis, which was having only 2 years left to live.... I wonder if there is any connection? This is the first I am hearing of this issue with Ft. McClellan...
I know it was the Chemical Corps training base too, while I was there... Guess I have some research to do...

OP.. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Assaulter, I went thru in 89-90.... A bit before you, but we chewed some of the same dirt... Up and down baby Baines... As far as the cancer goes... I'm fighting it as well as I can, but terminal isn't very promising.... I've been thru 11 chemo treatments and extensive surgery so far, and I have a couple more chemo treatments to go before we try something else... Let me tell you, chemo isn't for sissies.... I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy... If I had one.
Thanks for your well wishes.

I have been away from my computer so apologies for the delay in getting back to you. First, thank you for your service to our nation. Second, I am very sorry you are going through all of this. It is senseless and tragic that greed can lead to so much pain and destruction. God willing, you will beat this and get back on your feet in no time.
My only advice to you is to start telling all of your friends, and to file a claim with the VA. Go to any VA representative and they can help. You may have to educate them as we are finding that many are unaware of the issues. There is a link to the chemical studies in the story above. You can just print the story and take to your doctor. Unfortunately it wasn't just one chemical - it was a mixture. I don't know if that will make a difference in what treatment they give you or how they proceed but give them the information anyway. Get American Legion or some other vet service organization to help you and attach HR2052 plus whatever else you think is helpful to your claim. If nothing else it gets your date etched in. You may be eligible for disability from the VA while you are in treatment and afterwards. You may also be eligible for treatment and medication.
Let me know if you need any additional information.

That is a very common complaint among the 95b's LOTS of respiratory and similar ailments in basic and AIT. Request a copy of your service medical records. You may be surprised what is in there but you should know what the VA knows at a minimum.
After reviewing them you can cite exact dates of illneses as a basis for it "arose" in the military. Then you just have to show continuity. You are allowed to use buddy statements as attachments meaning you can use a statement from a mother, girlfriend, etc stating you get sinus infections, etc every ______. Cite HR2052 plus all attachments in the story above if you ask for benefits from the VA.
Be well. Stay safe,

I was there in '88-'89 (D Co. 795th MP Battalion) and was a civilian cop for 15 years. I have suffered forever with respiratory illnesses but never thought anything of it....until about a month ago when one of my coworkers (45 year old female) who suffers from severe rheumatoid arthritis and now has to use a scooter to get around told me that she was there in the mid 80's also but she was Chemical. Wow...good luck. My heart goes out to you and your families. OP, Thanks for the info, I'll pass it along.
