Today I went to an outdoor range in Lakeland with a friend (the one who got me into shooting) and we shot a lot of long arms.  I zeroed my new .22 Marlin semiauto, and had a chance to shoot some things I'd never shot before: Bulgarian AK, 1943 Lee Enfield, and a flaky .22 Ruger semiauto (much less accurate than my .22 Marlin).

I stopped by the Sun Coast Gun Show and checked out the prices on ARs.  I think I will get one after the holidays.  Still have to decide which features I want.

Now it's time to nurse my sore shoulder.  That Enfield was rough.  I can't imagine lugging that thing around occupied Europe and getting pounded every time I got into a firefight.  Thank goodness for modern small arms like the AR and AK.
