Hello,

I was putting my upper together yesterday and noticed the forward assist can rotate a lot (comparatively).
It has a definite rotate and "drag" feel when spinning it.

I think this is wrong, but only have one other upper to compare it against.
My RRA upper has no significant rotation of forward assist.

I marked the plunger and rotated it to each extreme for the two photos:

I believe there's a hair more movement than the photos show, it feels like it's just short of 45 degrees.
(Maybe 35-40?)

This is a Colt forward assist plunger assembly.
I swapped this one with the one in my RRA upper and saw the same rotation.
I believe the retaining pin hole is more leftwards than it should be, allowing the forward assist to rotate +/- from the "flat" position, but don't have any way to confirm.

I was unable to rotate a forward assist plunger in the RRA upper enough to visibly move my witness mark as in those photos.

Of course, maybe I screwed something up and broke it? This does sorta damper my thoughts of using a teardrop plunger.
Also, the pin was also tough to drive compared to the RRA, but that's difficult to quantify.

I'm a little concerned about the functionality of the forward assist with this rotation. Can anyone check if this is normal?

mechanical-

There should be no functional issues with the forward assist rotation.
Test it to make sure it works at both extremes, then you know it will work everywhere in between.
