Contact National Park Fort Moultrie site.  They interpret coastal defense from Revolutionary War when the palmetto Fort Moultrie repelled Sir Peter Parker's attempt to capture Charleston (cannon balls bounced off the palm logs), the War of 1812 to Civil War to WW II.  It's worth visiting as that site also has Fort Sumter.

Seneca Chief Osceola is buried there.
