I'm currently interested in the events that led up to Octavian/Augustus becoming "Princeps Civitatis", and generally beginning the Imperial period of Roman history.

Dan Carlin's Death Throes of the Republic, he spends some time discussing the Brothers Gracchi. He basically covers most of the time period you're looking to learn about. It's going to blow your mind with the similarities to.our own dying Republic.
