Last year I started volunteering at a local museum. I am now on the board of trustees (my head is still spinning on that one).
Anyway, we have a large collection of firearms, swords, uniforms, etc... from time to time I plan on posting pics of some of the uncommon and common items from our collection. A 1917 (not an A1) Browning on the 1917 tripod.    I love the detail in the rear sight...      Not super rare but most were rebuilt to A1 specs before WWII, so it is uncommon....as is the tripod. Notice its lack of traversing gear. It's a beautiful piece of machinery. Weapons like this are on loan from the RI National Guard and have sadly been demilitarized  But we are very happy to be able to display them. |

Is this a military museum, or just a local historical museum with a good in to get guns in the collection?

Its a military museum, charged with preserving, protecting, and promoting Rhode Island military history and patriotism. We also have a house built in 1773 and a marching unit.

Nice original '17 and the '17 pod are pretty sweet!! The unmodd'd tripods are harder to find than the guns!!!
