Here's a film that gives you a cockpit check on the P-40.  Probably state secret back when it was made.  It's in color too if you're a model maker.

All proudly made in Buffalo Ny. They had a special carrier for the fuselage and wings that brought them out to the  Curtis Wright plant at the site of the now Buffalo Airport.  After final assembly they were flown off to god knows where.

One thing I didn't realize until I saw the film was how roomy the P40 is compared to the Spitfire or Me-109.
