I was hoping someone could help me translate the engraving on this and what significance it might hold. I was told it was given as an award for being a sharpshooter and possibly came from the last tzar of Russia. Thanks for your help.

Nice, I think the one inscription states. "look out for Lenin, I do not trust that guy."

The inner lid says "In Soviet Russia, time tells you!"

(seriously, no idea) but I usually encounter russian speakers on rigs I go to. Consider this a tag. Will see if I can turn anything up when I get back to work on Sunday.

For outstanding shooting (marksmanship)

For outstanding shooting (marksmanship)

142 something (a score maybe?)

This word is tricky - very use-specific.  It is literally saying grouped/linked city - like maybe some sort of multi-city or competition.  Like what we would call a sectional these days.

12th company.  He was an ephrator - that's a senior enlisted rank akin to PFC or Specialist, depending on who you ask.  Dictionaries often say corporal, but it's really nothing like an NCO rank.

Looks like the guy awarded it was a Peter Tronsky.  Relative?  (on second thought, that is not the right name... my brain filled in gaps and saw what it wanted to see.  Looking at it carefully now, not sure what it is).

I think that's the date on the bottom.  July 9, 1901.

As for this:

That's info on the watch.  The brand, the type of movement.  It's really hard to make out most of it.  Take the photo with a camera, and not a potato next time, bitte.

That potato remark made me fall out of my chair! I no, my camera is horrible. Thanks for the help. It belongs to an acquaintance that asked me if I could find out anything about it.
