THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT But today, the History Channel is on less and less and less. Most of the time its on for a couple shows aweek. Now I know we are in changing times, and companies need to always change to attract more but I really believe they have strayed very far off course. Most of the shows such as, Pawn Stars, American Pickers, American Restoriation, Only in America, Top Gear, are decent shows but watching too much all blends together. These shows tell random history for random items. Other shows such as Swamp People, Axe Men, IRT, Full Metal Jousting, doesn't teach anything it shows nothing relavent. But in all reality to me the History Channel seems to be another Discovery Channel just with the random (lack of a better term) crap. SO I ask you all, do you'll agree ? IS there shows you would love to see back on the air. Hell just relaunching Tales of the Gun would be awesome. There has been many advance in just that alone they could at least do a short stint. I did like Apocolypse Man which sadly only one epsiode. Thanks for Reading |

Gotta agree.
I've been checking the travel channel on tvguide.com/listings/ occasionally for the last few weeks, just to have something to leave the TV tuned to. But I have yet to see them broadcast an actual travel show. It's all food. "Joe eating weird stuff in Taiwan. Fred eating weird stuff in Idaho." Isn't there already a channel for food? |

"No". Its a prediction of its future... History.
MTV did the same shit and it destroyed them. They need to get their act together, maybe a few more original shows, keep the crazy haired "aliens' guy toned down, and discuss 'history'. Try a series of shows on the Constitution, the Founders, and the intent of the Framers for this "Social Experiment". How about a series juxtaposing the Actual Law with the crap that they govern us with now? iow: prove the legality of the IRS, BATFE, gun bans, NFA.... A series on the shit we do everyday that would make Washington, Jefferson and the rest want to start a revolution against 'this' govt? Glen Beck can narrate, I want 2% off the top. Gold, silver, Ammo, and Land accepted as form of payment. Bitches considered on a case by case biases. (how do I copyright that?) |

It seems they would rather be like everyone else. But yes MTV yeah thats a topic on its own. |

I loved Tales of the Gun and I remember they used to have military Mondays. All day Monday they had shows on about various wars, equipment, etc. I loved watching them. I hate those shows you mentioned. I like the shows How the states got their shapes but mnost of th eother newer shows are crap.

Has anyone watched the Weather channel lately?
Now it's anything but weather. I don't give a shit most of the time, but earlier this year we were under a tornado warning, flipped to the weather channel, and it's coast guard Alaska. WTFO ??? Sine then I've noticed they do very little weather any more. Except for sensationalizing the hurricane that was going to shut down the GOP convention. |

They broadcast what people want to watch. Believe it or not they really do track this. And frankly, most of their "military" shows were crap. Same footage shown over and over again, frequent errors in the narration.

I miss the old "history channel, discovery, and T.L.C." now its just a bunch of scripted b.s. that just makes you dumber by the day.

Gotta agree with you completely, clown bear.
The History Channel is a caricature of its former self. It's almost not even on my "surfing list" anymore. The crappy reality programming that has replaced genuine history shows is totally infuriating; especially garbage like "Ice Road Truckers", "Axe Men", "Swamp People", etc. Fortunately, there's H2. But unfortunately, that's mostly reruns of original history channel material. A lot of History Channel programming originated on A&E. So, I would hazard a guess that there should be continuing "feed stock" for H2. |

Interesting article. Basically it seems she is re-making all the networks she runs into the way she wants them. |

Even before the change, it was history for the lowest common denominator. Now it's downgraded into mainstream garbage for the lowest common denominator.

Couldn't agree more on all points.
When I was in 8th grade 9/11 happened. I asked my dad, why don't they have anything on about it? He said it's the History Channel. Not for that kinda thing. I miss the History channel. At least in the morning you can sometimes catch The Real West and Civil War Journal in the morning. It's sad. |
