I was thinking of building one but i like to know how legal it is. I was thinking of building a muzzle loading cannon like the cival war type's and build a carrage by taking amish buggie carrage wheels' building a frame lathe out a cannon barrel. Iam wanting this to be up to scale 1:1  and try to be correct in the period they where used in. muzzle loading with just a cannon fuze.

It is my understanding that muzzle loading/black powder cannons are 100% legal to build and own. A few yr ago there was an article in Guns-Ammo about a fella that built a
cannon that is bored to take tennis balls. He fills them with shot and "BOOM". Seen an ad/link on subguns.com recently for a "Golf Ball" cannon. For some more general info-interest, Keith at Gulf Coast Armory is supposedly working on a "pop can" cannon to fire cans full of concrete.  Also go to www.biggerhammer.net---texas style bachelor party---there you will see a pic of a coffee can mortar in action.  Enjoy and good luck.
