If I purchase an AOW, Suppressor, or a SBR and I move to another state, what if any paperwork would I NEED TO FILE WITH THE atf?

FIRST it has to be state that allows those types of items, then you have to fill out (in duplicate) ATF Form 5320.20
They caome back in about 3 weeks.

So if the STATE allows it and the new city/county does not disallow it, then it is just a matter of filing the papers for the atf and not getting a signature of the new LEO?  Thanks.

If the city/county to which you're moving doesn't allow those items as a matter of law, then your 5320.20 will be refused.

If the sheriff there just isn't friendly towards NFA stuff, but there's no actual law against it, then it will probably get approved.

Some states which allow NFA items also require licenses or special taxes, so you'd have to fill out whatever forms and get approval from the state BEFORE ATF will approve your 5320.20.  This will usually involve leaving the firearms in locked storage in your former state of residence while cutting through the legal red tape, until you can legally bring the NFA stuff to your residence in the new state.

The local Chief LEO has NO say in your movement to your new location.

You already have the guns, your new STATE (not county) allows these items, you fill out the 5320.20, move there, and that is all there is to do.
If you need to have a C/R then that wil be necessary.

Bishop:  No, if there's a more restrictive local law, it will apply.  CO is an mg-friendly state, but just try moving to Denver with your machine guns. . .  If you somehow slip through the cracks and get your 5320.20 approved, the local yokels can and will bust you for the mg if it's illegal in their city/county.
