Does your doctor interfere with your gun rights?
Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership came up with some great information on what steps you can take to deal with when your doctor asks you about your guns. They handed me out two pages at my state's gun rights (VCDL) meeting and I put them up to share with others on our blog below.
What To Do When Your Doctor Asks About Your Guns

Hasn't happened.

If it did I would get a new doctor

Not every doctor has asked but many already do. I've seen people asking on other FB groups and forums.

Mine hasn't asked, but then he does know I am a LEO. so I think he suspects I have a gun.

Our doc spoke to my wife about shooting once.  Maybe that was his way of handling the issue.  He has never asked me.

When the AMA starts giving classes on proper firearm handling and the NRA starts giving classes on surgery, then and only then will I consider answering your questions about guns.

Mine asked. When I told her it wasn't any of her business, she said she just wanted to ensure they were being stored safely.

Yeah...right.

I'm currently looking for a new doc.

Tell them "I will be providing you with the name and address of my new physician, and asking that you forward my complete records."

I usually give him a good recommendation.  My doc is a God-fearing, pro-gun, big hunter who takes a month off every summer to do charity work in South America.  He's a quality guy.

My dental hygienist and my Dentist will sometimes ask if I got any new guns.

The hygienist carries.  My Dentist does some hunting and shooting also his brother is my US Congress Representative which is pro-gun.

If my doctor ever asked me, I would just say "hell no, guns are scary".  And leave it at that.

I would say "you first".  Most folks in these parts have guns.  It is not worth any words for those who don't.

Got a new doc recently. Part of the local mega hospital/insurance company. Filling out the medical history papers had the "do you have firearms in your home?"  Left it blank.

Last dentist only had a shotgun for fowl hunting.

Introduced him to rifles and handguns.

He looked like he might pee himself with a Bullseye 1911.

I'd ask if he wanted to go shooting. If he answered no then I'd tell him to mind his own business and get back to what I'm paying him for.

I've sold my doctor guns and silencers from the other side of a gun store counter. He asked about them a lot back then. He ordered a .338LM. I don't even have one of those. He got into reloading too. After becoming a cop, I helped hold down a combative suspect while he ordered the nurse to inject more sedative. He's totally awesome! His name is Dr. Pain. lol Seriously.

If loaded, locked and cocked on my nightstand, under my drivers seat and in the kitchen is proper.... Then yep! They are properly stored

My doc is a small town type older guy.

I'd be shocked if he didn't have a collection of his own.  Nobody has ever asked anything, in any event.

Never been asked. I work in hospital and a crap load of docs I know own guns. One ER doc I know owns a pair of Larue OBR's 1 in 5.56 and 1 in 7.62. Another one, wk with him regularly,  he went balls deep and bought an AR and Glock at same time. Another doc buddy with shit load of guns has taught a bunch of the docs at hospital to shoot and handle safely. My personal physician is former military doc so don't see him asking. If he did I would tell him where to send my medical records.

I took my son to a pediatrician that asked, I just told him that I was a cop and that ended that. He has a new Doc that hasn't asked.

My dentist is big into NFA and even has a BAR that he inherited, so most of our conversations are centered around guns.
