I posted a while back about a friend's son that got hooked for shooting with an oil filter attached to his rifle in San Bernardino County, CA.

The case just completed.  Reduced to misdemeanor, $200 fine, and 2 years informal probation.  I just looked up the court record and the "possession of a silencer" charge "not guilty" (dismissed).  "possession of a firearm not recognizable as a firearm"  NOLO and 'convicted'.

The kid was extremely lucky, or the lawyer was very good.

The convicted part sucks, withhold would have been better. I guess he wasn't in a position to buck.
