In some very Jewish communities, we have the Beth Din, it is administered as voluntary civil law only. And it can not enforce anything. If a party renegs on the agreement. You then go to Civil Court and it is a 'breach of contract case. I wonder if they are again 'copying the Jews'? There is a civil divorce, the force of law and a Jewish divorce. You must have the Civil divorce, the Roman Church also has a Religious divorce, but you must have a Civil divorce. So there is some precedence for this kind of court

Heck, our own court systems have tried to uphold Sharia decisions... -ETA given what you know about sharia and Muslims, do you not see sharia encroachment as a threat to traditional law in a matter similar to the SC movement? |

If they follow the Beth Din model, it is not a problem, our law is rooted in Judaic Law. The problem is the extremes sharia law goes to. The beheadings, cut off a thief's hand.... but then in may reduce the recidivism rate in Corrections. At least make it easy to find the 2nd offender? Seriously I wonder how far they will go? We do have to consider if they will have a reformation in Islam. In England 20 mosques have formed together to change. I really don't want to see government intervention in religion. But with the burning to death by ISIS, they do have some serious issues to resolve.
