Could a resident of Louisiana bring their personal handgun to Texas, and then sell the gun to a Texas resident by both going to a Texas FFL dealer and having that dealer do the transaction?  Or does the Louisiana resident have to physically ship the handgun to that FFL dealer using a non-USPS commercial carrier?

Either method is fine.
(and you could have a Louisiana dealer ship it via USPS for half the cost of UPS/FedEx)
