Don't do nearly the stuff a G-Shock does for 1/2 the price.

My Luminox is now my semi-nice watch.

Also they are not issued to the SEALs like their marketing department would have you believe. I'd go with a G-Shock or a Marathon GSAR.

I had one for years 'cause I got it cheap:

-it really is easy to read at night

-the bezel numbers disappear after a few years

-if you spray "OFF", as in the bug killer, on your arm and it gets on the watch, the bezel will turn gooey.

This.

I wear my Lumi when I cut the grass and paint.

When I want a tool watch I rock my G-Shock or T-SAR.

I have that one.  I love it.  Bright as hell at night.  Hasn't scratched.  Nice and light.  I feel like I spent my money well with it.

Mine is approx 7 years old. Had one cracked crystal (hit on something in the machine shop) replaced free of charge. Tritium still bright, great dive / surf watch. I'd say yes, worth $200. G-shocks are nice but lack style and I can't tell time on a digital watch.

I love the tritium on the Lumi. Very nice to have a low-key way to keep an eye on the time without announcing to the world in the dark (AKA indiglo etc...) No buttons to press, always on and won't screw with your night vision looking to check the time. That being said there are better timepieces, there are more durable timepieces and there are more functional timepieces. Bottom line though I still love the little bugger and feel it has it's place if you have the need.

Buy a G-shock.  Trust me on this.

Seiko.

Had a luminox for ten years and it crapped.  Went back to my Seiko dive that's 2010 - 1977 = 33 years old.

Like both of mine...they were a bit more than $200 admittedly

I prefer my Seiko Kinetic Diver's styling over the Luminix by wish it had the tritium vials instead of some "Lumibrite" paint. Mine doesn't stay visible past 2-3 hours and accodijg to Seiko it's supposed to stay visible all night.

I found a G-shock AWG101-1A in my closet that I apparently got a few Christmases ago from my uncle. It's nice. Solar and atomic. Light is a bit bad though.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer analog myself, but how can you not read the time on a digital watch?  I

I picked one up after I graduated MCRDPI in 2001, I loved that watch!! It was with me until a hot sandy afternoon in 2005 when I hit it on a door frame and finished it off.. I keep it around for the memories...

Still love mine after 12 years and it still glows bright.  I broke it once (my fault) and they fixed it no questions asked.

I love mine.  Using the backlight killed my Gshock on a 7 month deployment. Bought my Luminox in 2001 still going. Although I did break the crystal on a watertight hatch, but have had it fixed.

I've been wearing one like this almost every day for 4 years. I chainged the band to a zulu band and I couldn't be happier. You get spoiled to the tritium though.

When I wear a watch without it at night I think to myself why doesn't every watch use this stuff.

Anyone know if the replacement band size is 22mm?

I've had mine for probably 7 or 8 years now, got it on clearance from a store going out of business. I got the "USAF STEALTH" model () because I wanted the lower-key bezel.

It's been my semi-daily watch for 2 or 3 years now because I need to get my other watch fixed. It's been in the Atlantic and Pacific, been banged around a little bit (not too bad though) and the only discernable wear I can see is on the band... It's the impregnated leather band and it kinda sucks. I'm going to make a new band out of paracord.
