It's looking like Charlize Theron will play Dagny Taggart. I can't say I can think of anyone better, though I'm not exactly thrilled with the choice.
I think Gary Sinise or Viggo Mortinson would be good for Ragnar Danneskjold. Leaves a lotta openings, fill em in. GO! |

D'Anconia - if only Ricardo Montalban was young again. But for now I'd pick Christian Bale.
ETA: can they get Barney Frank to play Wesley Mouch? If not, Joe Pesci. |

For some reason I can see the actress who plays dudley's mom in harry potter making a fitting lillian.
I would rather they didn't. Hollywood will piss on the meaning behind the book. Probably make Dagny, John, Francisco, and Ragnar into the villians and the bureaucrats into good guys pushing healthcare reform and global warming horseshit.

There is absolutely NO WAY Rands message will make it through hollywood without being severely perverted. The fact that any big name actors would even be considered pretty much proves that fact to me without a doubt. |

Daniel Lewis isn't it? I still hope they don't make it though. |

Heck that would be a good match. but yeah, as much as I'd like to see a movie made true to Rand's message, I have no illusions that Hollywood would do anything but turn it into a "socialism is good" fest. |

I thought I heard a while ago that Angelina Jolie was being eyed as Dagny Taggart. She seems to me that she could play the strong independent and intelligent woman. Maybe Antonio Banderas as d'Anconia and Russel Crowe as Hank Rearden.
Charlize is way too pretty to play Dagne! If you go back and read through the first description of her physique and mannerisms, you'll realize that Hilary Swank is the PERFECT choice to play her! I think she'd be great!

Yeah.....Crowe as Reardon. Good call. The cockiness works for sure. |
I'm just glad they got off of Angelina Jolie. Wasn't she expected to play Dagny at one point?
The actor that played Newman on Seinfeld .............a perfect Wesley Mooch

I changed my mind...........Russel Crowe would be better as John Galt.
ETA.........and Christopher Walken as Ragnar |
You know hollywood will ruin the entire thing. They will do something like cast Tom Cruise as Galt.

I hope it doesn't happen, hollywood will F* it all up! It'll turn into socialism = good, freedom = bad!
That said, if the guys who did "American Carol" could get their hands on it, it might turn out alright. I think it would make a better HBO type series than a movie, I don't think you could do the story justice in 2-3 hours. PTK |

IMO, Banderas is too obvious for D'Anconia. His look is perfect, TOO perfect, and I don't think that as an actor he has a grasp on the subtlety required for the role. I'd even say an Anthony Hopkins would fit, but he's way too old now. How about Tom Sizemore for James Taggart? Or, even James Gandolfini for Wesley Mouch? |
Quoted: Quoted: Hmm, James Cromwell for Dr. Akston? Sean Connery! Ooh, better. I don't have a better idea but I don't think Charlize Theron is a good fit for Dagny. She doesn't seem harsh/sharp enough. |

This is how hollyweird will do it:
Meghan Fox as Dagny Keannu Reaves as John Galt Alex Baldwin as Ragnar Danneskjold Michal Moore will direct. |
What the FUCK is this!!!
Conservative actors should play the conservative roles –– and liberals should play the second handers and other life-sucking society dregs. |
Okay, Mrs. Bananas says she'll play.
Dagney Taggart: Ann Coulter Ragnar Danneskjold: Alan Tudyk (pilot on Firefly) Eddie Willers: Mark Wahlberg Hank Reardon: Liam Neeson Nester Carbonell: Francisco D'Anconio She likes: Brian Dennehy: Midas Mulligan Kate Blanchett: Dagney Taggart John Galt: Mathew McConaughey (if you can wipe the smirk off his face) |
You know this will be an epic fuckup just from the fact that to keep the movie honest with the book it would have to be at least 6 hours long. No way Hollywood does that. I can see Crowe as Rearden though and maybe Bale as Galt.

Dennis Storhøi as Ragnar Danneskjöld (Google it...he's in the 13th Warrior)
Jon Hamm as Hank Rearden Javier Bardem as Francisco d'Anconia James Marsden as Eddie Willers Elizabeth Mitchell as Dagny Taggart Josh Holloway as John Galt Michael Emmerson as James Taggart Gary Oldman as Dr. Floyd Ferris Billy Connolly as Dr. Robert Stadler Willem Dafoe as Hugh Akston Charlize Theron as Lillian Rearden Christina Ricci as Cherryl Brooks Brad Dourif as Wesley Mouch ...Yeah, I'm bored. |
