Any one have any suggestions on how to Defeat or evade FLIR Camera mounted on aircraft ?

I just figure it this way if they only have one chopper they can only look at a little bit of the woods at one time, be somewhere else and you win

AA system or MANPAD???
cuz otherwise the eye in the sky will catch you. Either dont be there or poke that eye out. I do not support the above acts. |

Given what little I know, it is very difficult to impossible. You either glow from your body heat, or you're so successful at hiding your heat signature that you become a rather conspicuous black hole. Your best options are either being somewhere else, or taking out the helo. The latter is likely to be more trouble than it is worth, and you'll find that you get more helos, with better armament soon after I think.

Convert AKMs/AR15s to full auto.
Arm friends with them. Shoot @ helicopter. ?????? Prophet! Edit:I felt this was semi-related. Get one, err, two of these |
|
Don't do anything stupid to get chased by FLIR equipped helo's? I'm just guessing.

Get yourself either underground or to an area that exactly matches your body temperature.

How far underground?
Just trying to plan my SHTF "storm shelter", don't want the, um, FLIR-equipped tornadoes finding me... |

Fire up the portable generator and aim the 10 watt 800nm laser at the chopper. (I'm guessing that rules go out the window if you're being hunted).

Black and white polyethylene will work, it's black on one side and white on the other.. Also some stuff called panda film. Pot growers use it to hide the infrared signature of their grow ops, don't ask how I know....

Create a shelter made out of space blankets under the ground, but atleast cover yourself with a blanket or two until threat is gone, but if you are chased and have flir after you, very little chance of escaping.

IR laser, and dazzle it?
Depending on the aircraft, a stinger would do the trick. If it's a piston that a stinger couldn't lock onto, a dual Bofors 40mm with proximity fused shells should do the trick. A space suit should do it, as well. Get underneath a hay loft? As long as they don't see you go in... Caves. Parking garages. The middle of a forest fire. The crater of an active volcano. Skinny dipping in Yellowstone. |

I would say get at least 10ft below ground.
A good FLIR operator can find you through the walls in a house. Their was a pretty good thread on it about a year ago, some really nice pics looking at a house and seeing alot of the stuff inside. A well thats 30-40 ft deep with a nice area to lounge around in at the bottom might work. ETA: theirs a big difference between military grade FLIR and what most LE has. If the military is after you your in big trouble and no amount of space blankets will help. If its LE with a 10 year old FLIR camera then maybe you would have a chance. |

even if you somehow manage to shield your thermal signature (unlikely) the heat signature given off from the shielding material still wont be the same as the rest of the environment around it so it will stand out like a sore thumb. getting underground or inside a thick walled building is your only chance.
this from a pretty solid thermal user. flir, abrams/bradley TIS, and pas-13. |

If the environment is rich with signitures that are close replicas of or exact copies of a potential heat signature target and are widely dispersed then unless Helo lands and investigates or has Ground forces to call in you could be safe (For a time) if it's just Leo and not an Attack helo ? |

If there are 74 potential targets and 26 of them look identacle with another 18 targets looking a little wierd but all simular as far as you can tell before somthing else (otherr than me catches your eye and distracts you for a second before you re-focus on the original 74 signitures and start over again ... |

OPSEC is getting a little stoopid around here lately. Shit that has been on here before, on the MSN, in unclassified technical documents that have been around since the beginning of the Internets, etc. If there really is a person or a group of people with malevolent intent lurking here for strategies, they aren't trying hard enough. |
