How big is the shot?

In England they measure booze consumption by units of alcohol, one 25ml (0.85oz) shot of 40% liquor (such as Jim Beam) = one unit of alcohol = one half-pint (8 oz) of average beer (4% alcohol).

A typical shot over here is about 1.5oz which is therefore equivalent to just under 2 8oz domestic beers.

one 12 oz bud (4% alcohol by volume) is nearly equal to one 1.5 oz shot (40% alcohol by volume).

Quick, what was the first name of the first Beam on the label? without looking!

I may be too messed up to type my thoughts clearly. I dont know what the proof of Jim Bean is - but for the sake of this demonstration lets say it's 40% alchool...6point beer is what? 6% alchool? if you take a 1oz shot of Jim Bean - and thats 40% alchool. And 1oz of beer is 6%, I would say it would take 6oz of beer to equal the 1oz of jim bean. That's how it makes sense to ME but I cant back that up with anything scientific.

No, it's not.

Is it new Jim Beam or old Jim Beam.

Remember, a few years back all of the distilleries were required to reduce the alcohol content of their beverages.

That old way of figuring was a fair rule of thumb for guessing whether you were legal to drive, but it is hardly scientific.  Or accurate.

In a general Discussion board.

That is why there are areas dedicated to firearms etc.
