I was supposed to get a package from UPS yesterday, a OCTA versipack by Maxpedtion. My package never came. Checked the tracking today and it said this

"PKG DELAY-ADD'L SECURITY CHECK BY GOV'T OR OTHER AGENCY- BEYOND UPS CONTROL"

It kinda freaked me out. I have ordered ammo and hi-cap mags lately.

Has anyone seen this before?

Check the e-mail again. I got one yesterday with a downloadable file that was supposed to be the shippers info ( that had a virus in it) - but the UPS was not the "United Parcel Service" it was the "United Postal Service" not the "United States Postal Service" and I hadn't ordered anything.

This is why when I placed my last large order with Silver State, I paid extra to have a freight company ship it.

My order showed up as expected, stacked neatly on a small pallet.

The email I got was from the shipper. And the tracking number link goes to UPS website.

I work for UPS in customer service and can tell you YES the Gubberment can hold a package for whatever reason. I don't know why they would decide to put a hold one the ammo. Unless there were no markings on the box indicating it is an ORM-D package and the shipper has been shipping ammo without following the guidelines. Other than that I can't explain any other reason.

I had a package delayed thru UPS. I don't remember exactly what it said, but it was some sort of "internal activity" code. But once the package was going again that tracking info that had the message was deleted. Only delayed arrival a day or two.

Was it international? Or an Air package(meaning would it have had to be loaded on a plane)?

I can almost understand if it was a rifle being shipped to Alaska but a small pack?

I'll ask some sups tomorrow and see if they've ever heard about these intrusions before.

It was shipped UPS ground from CA. It is a fanny pack, not ammo, not a gun, gun parts etc.
Maybe this is just a routine type of thing, but I get alot of stuff shipped by UPS and I have never seen this before, so I thought it was kinda strange.

Just got my package. Just the UPS guy, no agents showed up! Did not ask the UPS guy any questions because I doubt that he would know anything.
The package had not been opened.

I had it happen on an upper and a few pmags I had sent to me... It was only held up for two days though.. I figured it to be becasue the douchebag I bought them from included a dummy gernade in the package..

After I read the post about it not being opened, that's what I was thinking too.

The trailer may have been held up for some reason. Perhaps someone else's package on the same trailer had to be searched?

Maybe it was heading to the border....

hmm...maybe thats whats going on with my shipment...wish I had the tracking number for some reason no one has got it to me. I was told it shipped last Monday and my FFL still has not got it!

One thing that was interesting to me is that my package went out for delivery on 3/2 at 7:19am and at 9:52am it was delayed for a security check. I am guessing it was on the truck at that time. Maybe it was not just my package but something else on the truck. Maybe there was a legimate reason for this, maybe not. It is interesting that others on this forum have had the same thing happen.
I hope it is just a routine thing and not gun owners being monitored.
