How many of you use a "popup killer" when surfing? I have been getting some screens that seem to take over my screen, and nearly impossible to get out of. What version have you had the best luck with, and what are the problems with it? Thanks....fullclip

I use popup stopper.  But I leave if 'off' most of the time.  Why?  Because I like to right click topics and open them in other windows.  Popup stopper prevents me from opening the windows. heh.   When I'm just normally surfing, I turn it back on.  Works great.

Stay off the Porno Sites [whacko]

On those ones that have no visible way to shut down just use the Alt and F4 keys.

I have seen other people suggest this, and I use it when I want to prevent pop ups:

1) at the top of the page click on TOOLS

2) on the drop down menu select INTERNET OPTIONS

3) click on the SECURITY tab

4) about 2/3 down from the top, click on the button CUSTOM LEVEL.

5) Scroll grab the menu bar and scroll about 2/3 down, and you are looking for the phrase SCRIPTING; under ACTIVE SCRIPTING; select click on the PROMPT

6) click on OK, OK

Activate the procedure you need to shut off pop menus.  Answer no when the system prompts you, do you do you want to run the java script. On the security tab there is also a DEFAULT button to restore the system, but it maybe easier to go in and reset just that one piece.

Some of the newspaper sites are starting to use pop up ads where it is impossible to turn off and you can't see the article.

I use a very little free program called POW, very easy to use lets you ad the windows once you see them.

Of course you have to see them first and it doesn't stop them from happening once. I often go to my favorite newspaper sites again and again though

I forgot to mention that there is an alterate and quicker way to reach the SECURITY MENU,on the lower right hand corner of the MS Explorer winder there is globe and the word INTERNET, well if you double-click in that area it will take you right to the correct screen. At least try the cheapest one first.

Let me know if you are seccessful.  If you can't get it to work, you may have to buy one of those stop pop-up computer programs.

ADMUNCHER is another goodie. I use it to shut down all standard size banners (sorry Goatboy) and popups. It works like a charm.
