I just wanted to let everyone here know that my Grandpa passed away today. He was a WWII vet and I respect him more than anyone I know! I thought I had made myself ready for this day, but I don't think that could have been done. He was the man who really showed me how to shoot. I really wanted to shoot his 12 ga. so he let me.....I was about six at the time and that 12 ga. sure packed a punch, but I got up and did it again! I love him and will miss him greatly! Thank You, Nathan (medcop) I will be leaving town and not sure when I will return. If you have placed an order with me I will get to it as soon as I get back.

Our condolences yo your family. The Greatest Generation is leaving us, and the world will be the poorer for their passing. Dont forget the honor guard at his funeral. The DAV, VFW, and Amvets will gladly supply the honor guard and bugler. You will never hear Taps again without a tear. May he rest forever in the arms of the Almighty....

My condolences to you and your family. I had a similar relationship with my grandfather, and can appreciate how great the loss is. Maybe we can fill that role for our grandchildren someday if we remember these men well.

Nathan, sorry to hear about your Grandfather passing away. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family in this tough time. Just remember your Grandfather for all the good he did and for the good times you had with him. My Grandpa, a proud old WWII vet as well, passed away last year. It was tough and I still miss him... I think I will for the rest of my life. I honor him by remembering the good times, how he lived his life as a respectable man and honorable American, and the lessons he taught me in the 25 years I got have him in my life. Your Grandpa may have moved on to a better place, but his legacy and spirit will be with you forever. Don't ever forget that. Tonight I'll say a prayer to my Grandpa and ask him to show your Grandpa around up there, OK? Maybe they can swap some old WWII stories. Hang in there buddy. BMAN

My condolences Nathan. My Grandfather, a hard worker, fisherman, and hunter passed away over 23 years ago and I still think of him about every day. I still own his last car, passed down to me by my grandmother. So you see, the memories of our grandparents and the short time we spent with them will never fade.

Nathan, sorry to hear of your loss. My grandfather just passed early saturday morning, around 2-3am. My mom and dad were up from FL to aid my sister in her move from Columbus to Canton, OH. Got the call Sat morning. So we spent the late afternoon today w/mom and dad, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. Will have to go back Monday for later veiw time, then funeral Tue. This is strange how things happen, you asked for help, I helped, and we both suffer the same loss with-in a number of hrs. Hope all goes well for you and family. HAL

Nathan, I'm so sorry for your loss. You were blessed with many good years with him. Your memories of the time you shared together will be with you forever to make you smile. I lost my only grandfather when I was 8 years old, and still I think of him often and it warms my heart. This is an especially sad time of year to lose a loved one. Try not to let his passing ruin your holiday, but instead, know that he is with you in spirit and celebrate his life. My prayers are with you and your family.

Hal, my prayers are with you, also. As I said to Nathan, remember your grandfather and celebrate his life as you celebrate Christmas this year. Embrace your family while they are near you for this holiday, and find comfort in each other.

Medcop, Sorry to hear of the loss of your grandfather. One of my grandfathers passed away when I was 15 and I still miss the influece he had on me. He never had the opportunity to serve his country...tried to join the Army but couldn't due to some medical problem. My other grandfather is still alive - a World War II and Korean War veteran who means a lot to me. My great Uncle died a few years back - didn't know him that well until he had cancer but he fought at Normandy, was wounded, and captured by the Germans until his release from a POW camp. My father served as National Guard during Vietnam - I guess thats why I felt compelled to sign up for at least 3 years of active duty. Again, condolenses to you and your family with this loss of a loved one.
