01-28-86
i was 8 and the whole school was watching b/c one of the teachers at school was almost on that shuttle. still burned into memory.

09-11-01
at a small diner (the m&m) in ausable forks waiting for my omlet with homefries. heard it on the radio. i remember thinking to myself "this has to be a bad joke" but then they said the other tower was hit, it finally sank in.
when i got to my first job i couldn't disconnect the tv to install the new system. and that was the only job i did that day. wouldn't think a 4x4 s10 could go 90, but it did. and the cops didn't even think twice, passed two and neither were concerned with me.

spent the day preparing for a war i was sure was (maby still is) comeing. I WILL NEVER FORGET.

1 not born

2. in grade school

3. at work, friend calls and ses can you beleive this shit?  I have no clue whats going on.  so i try to get on CNN.com- to many hits.  I finally get to a news site and they have it on.   I go down to the main office at work and say did you see this shit?  they have no clue what is going on.  I go to the conference room and fire up the TV-no antenna or cable.  Can barley get a picture.  Just kinda get it going when there was another explosion- i was like "holy shit" the fuel or a bomb jus went off in the other tower.  Turns out it was the other plane.  The president of the company gives me some cash and his keys and I run to the store for a antenna/adpter. Hook it up and fianlly see that it was another plane hitting the 2nd tower.  I spent the better part of the day in that room watching the events unfold.  I also made sure the shop guys were kept up to date with frequent updates on the tv monitors.
Ii went home an turned on the tv-told the wife/kid not to bother me.

It was a very strange day

November 22, 1963:
In H.S [senior] Spanish class alternately thinking about the upcoming Friday night football game and daydreaming about the hotties in class.  Lots of confusion and boo-hooing on the quad at lunch.  Many teachers lost it.

January 28, 1986:
Underway, making way in the North Pacific on my destroyer.  Heard about it on the radio, informed the crew.

September 11, 2001:
In my hotel room in Ontario, CA.  Just stepped out of the shower and saw the live feed on ABC of the burning WTC.  Called the wife on the east coast to see if she knew what was up.  We were watching it as the second jet hit the WTC.  We both realized we were at war again.  Then I called my boss near the Pentagon and told him to get the AV guys to bring the big TV to his office.  Just then he said they felt and heard the third plane slam into the Pentagon and then saw the smoke.
I got trapped on the Left Coast for several days...and felt really naked all the time.  Very happy to finally get home.

We're coming for YOU Osama!  [devil][rocket]

2001 right here at work surfing ar15.com news swervice. one of the girls came down the hall saying something about an airplane and the wtc and i realized not all you guys are insane...

11/22/63 - 2nd grade classroom at Garden Villas Elementary. Mrs. Hoke was her name. She was crying when she came in and said listen to the announcement. We left school early. When Mama picked me up she was crying, as they announced he had died.

Jan 26, 1986 - At home from work with Strep Throat. Was flipping through channels and saw immediate reports.

9/11 - Home. Had stayed up late working. and was to head in at noon. Ended up calling wife's office and being their Reporter. Son came home from class to me sitting with loaded weapons.....

JFK-I was pretty young and don't remember the actual day but I vividly remember the flag covered casket being carried in the wagon.

Space Shuttle-I was doing technician work in a hotel and I was testing a television when the shuttle exploded.  I just sat back on the bed, stunned.

WTC-I was driving through the desert on my way from Vegas to LA and it was still dark outside.  While I was surfing the AM dial, a talk show host came on, yelling about a plane hitting the trade center.  It went on from there of course.  The whole thing was totally surreal, especially out in the middle of nowhere by myself.

'63) wasn't born but I'm sure my parents were trying...

'86) home sick from school and watched it live on TV with my grandma.

9/11) Driving to work after leaving my girlfriends house.  She had left earlier that morning as she's a United Airlines flight attendant.  I drive about an hour and a half to work in the mornings (Chicago) and I was listening to Mancow (radio host) when he told us of the first plane hitting.  I immediately turned my car around and went home.  By the time I got home the second plane had hit and I was trying to reach my girlfriend on her cell phone.  I couldn't get her and I didn't remember if she was flying to Cali or NY that morning.  About an hour later she called and said they brought all of the flights back down and she called as soon as she could.

What a day... and then I sat and watched as the towers crumbled one at a time on live TV.  About an hour later I was talking to the prior service recruiter seeing about going back in for the war for which I was certain was going to be waged.

11-23-63: Six months old. Busy messing diapers.

01-28-86: At work listening to the radio and they broke in with the news. Went outside and looked at the Con-trail. Went back in and watched the TV coverage. Hurt like hell. My wife and I had stopped at Kennedy a few months earlier on our honeymoon. Had a great time and saw a shuttle on the pad ready to go. I taped the news and special reports the next couple of days. If you ever want the get a lump in your throat, watch the memorial with President Reagan's speech. Still gets me every time.

9-11-01: I was running a phone line to my office and my wife called. "two planes hit the WTC" I'm thinking mid-air collision and they fell on the WTC. She says "NO, one into each tower!" I ran to the TV. I had customers who came in and I couldn't belive they weren't home watching the news. I was actually PISSED that the were out shopping for hobby supplies while thousands of fellow Americans were dying. I wasn't worth a crap for three days.

Shuttle : Senior in H.S. Driving home in the snow, faking illness. Weird thing is either the 1st or 2nd alternate was my J.H.S. Vice Principal. Weird because the usual "I hope he gets it and blows up" talk from the "hoods".

WTC :Sitting in bed eating a Pop-Tart thinking about getting dress to attend a funeral.

11/23/63..N/A

01/28/86..I was in my third grade class and didn't hear anything about it until I got home.

9/11/01..I woke up to my alarm at 6:50 AM PST to some local talk show hosts saying "Three terrorism attacks" before I turned my alarm off. I thought it was another prank contest until I got to work.
I got to work to everyone wanting to know if I had heard what happened and that the WTC had just collapsed.
Went on my route and listened to the radio all day long.
My route is about 2 hundred miles long and I was grim throughout. Almost every person that I saw driving on the freeways had a scowl or was crying. I was amazed at what I saw that day. It was torture to get home and turn on the television to see the images in which the radio had so vividly described.

Never Forgive/Never Forget

November 22, 1963: I was in high school between classes, got to the next class, teacher announced Kennedy assasination.

January 28, 1986:  Walked back in from lunch (at work), everyone was in an uproar, someone told me the Challenger blew up.  We thought it was a joke for a while, then reality set in.

September 11, 2001:  I was in my RX7 driving from Tybee Island (home) towards Savannah.  Friend of mine called and said a plane had flown into the WTC.  We talked for a minute about what a dumbass the pilot must have been to do something that boneheaded.  He called me back about 30 minutes later and said a second plane had hit the WTC.  We both realized at that moment that something was afoot.  There were a few "oh sh*t", WTF's, and so on.  I hauled ass home and turned on FOX news.
